An 85% approval rating from a poll of 1077 people is very impressive!

With 7% indifferent and 7% against.

I doubt many kits from any team have ever had such high approval from a large sample of the fanbase.

Umbro and Cortese/Liebherr (who would have given it final approval) choose very well indeed.

Nothing to do with the People back in 1885 then who chose the original strip

It is the 125 Anniversary Season so the Shirt chosen was not a big surprise I would have thought

I'm suprised at how popular it is. I think it's boring and that it looks like something that a jockey would wear.

No thought has gone into it. It's a 125 year old design, so it's not as if the designers have had to do much work for their money. A new take on the original Saints shirt would have been far more exciting. Once again the forum users came up with better ideas than the designers at Umbro. We've ended up with an England shirt with a diagonal red stripe. Whooopee!

Whatever next? An away shirt that's basically a Sweden kit with a Saints badge. I wouldn't put it past them. :(

It is a new take on the original Saints shirt.....its a retro design, as you say 125 years worth.....what would you want to make it more exciting ?

It is only for one season, as a mark of the anniversary in the same way Arsenal went for the maroon shirt a few years back.....I really dont see what you expected tbh.

See, I told you that picture I showed you was the finished article. You said you thought it was nice when I showed you the pic. Or were you just being polite, hoping that it was a fake and that the actual shirt would be something completely different? Well sorry mate, It isn't. You've got 12 months of looking like a jockey or a Polo player ;)

See you tomorrow.

It's not a new take at all. It looks like it was made in 1885. The fact that you've used the word 'retro' to describe it says it all. They should have done this shirt as a limited release. Maybe worn it for one game only and charged more for it. They could have made it really special by only releasing 125 of them. That would have made them very collectable. Other clubs have done this type of thing and it's proved to be very popular.

As I said before, the designs that some of our own fans produced had far more thought put into them.

Sid. I won't be looking like a jockey or a polo player as I won't be buying it. ;)

Well I love the kit, its unique really and I think it is the right decision. Going Saturday with the daughter to buy it and looking forward to it. COYS.

PS cheer up, suppose I have not been a saints fan for long as only 28 but I'm loving the positive feeling at the moment.

Interesting to see the USA strip from the game where they beat England 1-0 - White shirt with what I think is a red sash, top left to bottom right as you look at it. Only difference was a v neck collar with a blue trim. On BBC 1 now....

You beat me to it - nearly identical, although it was in black and white. (The TV, not the strip - I assume the strip was the same colour.)

Anyway, is anyone else a little worried that Morgan and Lallana were not pictured in the new kit?

Maybe Morgan is still on holiday after playing in U.21 tournament and not around, and maybe Lallana also is on holiday still? Hopefully people are just reading too much into it

Agree with extracts in bold.

Yes,I like it to a point but its a bit of a cop out in so far as it is 'England with a single sash on the front'. Should be front and back sash to be authentic.

As you say, some better designs on the forum.

The badge is ludicrous.

No please, not another yellow and blue away kit looking like Sweden.

OOh get at them 4-pages on another clubs kit enough said. :smt039

But they are so pleased to have kept the bloke some of them at the back of the stand jokingly refer to, within their circle of friends, as 'Indigo Cardigan' (sn!gger,sn!gger..)

If you are going to recreate a historic kit you shouldn't go halfway. The socks were black in 1885, so a recreation of the kit should have black socks.

Infact if you look at it it like that, maybe be we should make all of the players ditch there BMW'S & AUDIS, and turn up for training and matches on Pennyfarthings.

What a crock of ****. I had a much nicer kit than that at uni. Looks like a park team piece of rubbish thaqt cost about £10. I bet it gives you a massive electric shock.

I have given it a few viewings and now think I can post a balanced view.

It is awesome.... will be buying it without a doubt.

How about some stripes on the away shirt for the people who seem like they are going to miss them..... for ONE season!!
