Im astonished 85% of you lot like it. I think it is awful. We dont look like Southampton anymore. It looks like a traning polo top. Bloody Awful.

I'm amazed that people keep saying stuff like 'we don't look like Southampton anymore' when we've known for months that it was going to be a sash kit. :smt102

If you go to the saints web site and hover your mouse over Lamberts midrift you get a tooltip saying "Norman" ?! Is that his nickname for his **** or what?

First spotted by Ken Tone at 9:19 this morning (post#226).....comes up 'norman' for all players on the promo pic....all theories welcome!

Here's a theory. It's called an alt tag. Images on websites have them. If you turned off the images to make your dial up connection run a bit quicker then that is what would be displayed. Good for SEO but let's stick on topic here. It doesn't matter where you hover over that photo it will display Norman as that is what is in the alt tag. It isn't like hovering over a facebook picture to see who is who. Why Norman is there i don't know however.

I'm tempted to get something on the back' date=' even though it is slightly childish, but not sure what to get. Don't really want a current player, or my own name. Might just get the number 7. Is it stupid to get an old player's name on a new kit? Might get Le Tissier...[/quote']

Liebherr?

To be fair, if it reaches his midrift he should call it Kong...

Ok now I have seen the kit in the "flesh" here is my verdict.

IMO it is the best kit we have ever had, however a couple of disappointments.

Although the label is "tailored by Umbro", it is not a true tailored by kit imo as it is 100% nylon and not the gorgeous cotton poly mix seen on the england/city/ireland/sweden kits which is so comfortable. That said, those mixes lose their shape easily and don't wear well. The material is nice though and comfortable.

The sizes are "fitted" but again not true tailored by which usually come in half sizes 36,38,40,42 etc.

There are a couple of nice little bespoke features on the shirts like the red and gold triangle ehich is saints branded 125 behind the umbro logo. Even the red nose works well!

Really nice design simple & classic exactly what I was hoping for apart from the fabric.

8/10.

p.s it's viewable in the shop.

Technically, I guess on this kit it's NOT a sash. It was on the original, because it was a seperate sash that went over the white shirt. But I would say this is a 'diagonal stripe'.

Not that actually matters in the slightest. Nor is the word sash 'gay'. But each to their own.

It is an interesting theory, but then those who really know HTML will realise that this tooltip comes from the title tag - not the alt tag.

You must be a winner at parties. I think my description is fine for the layman (Trousers) thanks.

Lol. It's quite simple really. A 'sash' is a word of Arabic origin, traditionally a cloth belt used to hold a robe together, and also used for decorative purposes to pass from shoulder to hip.

It's a noun to describe a piece of clothing. Nothing more, nothing less.
