Don't buy one then you tart!! FFS, I can't believe some people, we've had it on pretty good authority that the sash kit was coming for ages.....now they complain.

I can't believe some people like you rubbishing other peoples comments all the time - other people can have a different outlook to you which is just as well I would have thought.

I agree I thought the Sash kit was coming and dont really see what all the fuss is about but clearly lots of people are really excited by it and will be buying loads of shirts that is their choice but not mine

Is that seriously why all the news comes out at that time?

That is pathetic and childish really.

Oh well, the kit looks nice, I will wait till it is half price at the end of the season and buy one to put in the draw.

Without wading through 10 pages to see if anyone has replied to this. I'm pretty sure the reason updates come at midnight (there's been quite a few now) would be because of the company who are hosting/maintaining our website. Planned stories like this could well be live but timed to appear on the front page when the date ticks over at midnight. Cheaper to get them to preplan like that, get the page designed and uploaded during the day before and let it all happen automatically over night

Pretty sure it was released at something like 11:24.

It's not a new take at all. It looks like it was made in 1885. The fact that you've used the word 'retro' to describe it says it all. They should have done this shirt as a limited release. Maybe worn it for one game only and charged more for it. They could have made it really special by only releasing 125 of them. That would have made them very collectable. Other clubs have done this type of thing and it's proved to be very popular.

As I said before, the designs that some of our own fans produced had far more thought put into them.

Sid. I won't be looking like a jockey or a polo player as I won't be buying it. ;)

how on earth do you know how much thought was put into our design.were you there?did you attend the meetings between the Club and designers??...no, i doubt it eh.

I like it, but it should be with white socks with a thick red stripe on the outside...not plain black.

i agree, the solid block of black looks wrong, white with red trim would've looked much better, but seeing as i have no intention of buying socks with my top anyway then i couldn't really give a monkey's uncle! :)

I'm suprised at how popular it is. I think it's boring and that it looks like something that a jockey would wear.

No thought has gone into it. It's a 125 year old design, so it's not as if the designers have had to do much work for their money. A new take on the original Saints shirt would have been far more exciting. Once again the forum users came up with better ideas than the designers at Umbro. We've ended up with an England shirt with a diagonal red stripe. Whooopee!

Whatever next? An away shirt that's basically a Sweden kit with a Saints badge. I wouldn't put it past them. :(

Only Saeed Manana's jockey.

I just received an England shirt from kitbag.com for the WC, and the material Umbro use is very comfortable.

Just for wearing to the loo?? Posh!

I can't make up my mind on it. Looks a bit cheap & naff like any old polo shirt in some of the piks. Looks better in the piks of it being worn though. I do like the contrast of the black socks. Will get one anyway but my favourite kit was the flybe one with the black trim (no sticker) and this hasn't changed my mind...yet...guess I will have to reserve judgement til I see it in the flesh.

It's amazing hoe many people like it, but i bet we don't see many of them at games in season 2011/12

It's a shirt for it's time. As such, maybe you are right, but it will have served it's purpose well.

We have a wonderful year to look forward too, if we burn out in the process, outstanding.

probably the nicest kit ive ever owned.

If I didnt head down yesterday i would have simply stayed in bed, I am so pleased I got up!

Great idea of SFC to open the Chapel. Instead of having heroic fans queuing round the stadium all day, you were given a ticket and called up in batches to enter the shop, meaning you could chill out with a beer, and watch the end of season dvd... superb!

I went to the pub for an hour instead as i was paying with my card, arrived back and my number was called up immediately.

The quality of the kit if superb, far better than usual. Its like the England shirt but a much nicer material. The collar is nice and not overpowering on the neck, and the sash looks really smart across our sponsor less shirt.

One thing I was most skeptical about was the badge, but I have to concede it looks brilliant. The 125 blob looks much better as an embroiled fabric over a jpeg, and the gold looks class.

All in all, a really smart shirt, which you would get away with wearing out in public or the pub being so clean and subtle.

Shame the one off 125th scarfs are a bit lame.

Goalie kit if nice too, cant wait for the away kit now!

hats off to SFC

Now that we have a new kit and a lot of players have been moved on, does anybody else think it would be a perfect opportunity to rejig the squad numbers? Looking at the official squad list on the Saints homepage we now have the following numbers free 3, 5, 8, 15, 16, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, etc.

They also have the numbers 9 and 37 still assigned to Waigo and Antonio respectively so I would imagine that both these numbers are free too!

It would also give us a prime opportunity to correct a few rather odd squad numbers that have been assigned. The obvious 1 for me is the number 10 being assigned to one of our worst players in Paul Wotton! Surely we can give the number 10 shirt to one of our better players or even a new signing!

I appreciate that a lot of the free numbers will be assigned to the new signings we make but surely a few minor adjustments can be made now that we have a few more numbers available.

Got mine today- it's top notch. Was going to get a long sleeved one but it was pretty hard to roll the sleeves up as the cuffs are so tight so went for short sleeves in the end.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but for those who haven't seen the keeper kit yet:

I have seen a lot of people wearing the new shirt, but none of them have any names and numbers printed on the back. Does anybody know if the club are currently offering shirt printing on the new shirts yet, or are they waiting for the new squad numbers to be confirmed?

I bought mine on Thursday and some people were getting names/numbers printed then.

For those people worried about Lallana not being in the release photo, there is a video on Saintsplayer with interviews with Davis and Lambert and in one of the shots you can see players getting ready for a photoshoot in the shirt, including Lallana who looked happier than anyone to be wearing it.

won't all the squad numbers have to be re-done anyway, due to the new rule about the 1st team squad being limited to 25 ?

All the Squad Numbers in the Football League have to be consecutive at the start of the season anyway, and given that the list has to be in before the transfer window closes they'll have to shunt whoever we've got in the squad than towards the lower numbers and pile any late signings in at the end...
