I think looking back at how last season panned out, it would be a mistake to not replace Papa and Antonio.

Basically, they added a major shake-up to the team when they were brought in or brought on. They added an element of unpredictability that has been missing from Saints teams since MLT retired.

I do as well, and think he will.

If we want Antonio, we will get him, simple as. He had a great season here, so I reckon the player would want to come back, we can afford to outbid Charlton should the need arise, and we all know what he can do.

It's a shame Reading slapped the extension on to his contract, but it was a smart move by them, because we knew that getting him on a free would be THE best bit of business of the summer. Another years loan and a clause to sign him would be lovely - Charlton can bugger off.

wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with Mike Marshall - just released from Swindon he plays on the right wing and is lightning quick and caused us loads of problems at the county ground. (Former Eastleigh lad)

If we are looking at signing swindon rejects for our so called `title winning campaign` i would be concerned.

I have this site on my favourites. Some of the rumours[rumours being the operative word], on the site, you really could not make up if you tried. Some of the Saints rumours,

are so outrageous, they are not worth putting on here, unless you want a laugh,to match some seriously funny jokes.

I suppose the fact,I have the site on my favourites is a laugh in itself.

Could dickson be the reason for this rumour??

Can play left mid, freeing lallana up to either play in the hole off lambert or compete with puncheon for the right mid place??

This would also give us more balance and natural width.

Or it could all be Bollix

Or that. I can see Dickson playing Left mid though

I can see that

I meant it was Bollix that Antonio was going to Charlton

I think if we dont sign him then he will end up on loan to another League one club and it will be one of the teams going for promotion against us.

So i hope we do sign him because he is such a raw talent and could eventually be good enough for the premiership with the right guidence

Just think it strange that Reading sign him for another year and then loan him out

They had the right to extend contract by 1 year if they wanted, By doing so they can now demand a transfer fee...

Charlton have big money issues, I can't see them being able to match any offer we would have to offer.

However, this moment in time we are weaker than last season's squad so surely there will be a number of additions.

I dont expect either will sign for us next season. Papa is a free spirit and will go on to a bigger (in his eyes) club. Reading will ask too much for Antonio and Pardew will bring in someone cheaper and better.

I would like us to sign both but as Pardew did Ok last year in the transfer market I trust his judgement.

genuine question - where do you get this view that Papa wants to move on ? I havent seen anything that suggests that ( not saying you are wrong). Would be a real shame - these two really added to great moments of effectiveness and entertainment.

Because he said so in a quote a while back, think I posted it up on this very forum, mind you it was in a Francophone Senagalese newspaper.

Oxlade-Chamberlain coming through to team means that Pards does not need Papa and Antonio?

Might be true I suppose, however I saw nothing about this lad that made me think he was worthy of a place in a CCC team. Papa and Antonio on the other hand did, wouldn't you agree?

Yes..would have both Papa and Antonio back at the right agreements....

But suggest that the belief is that this young lad is going to get more games and at least by xmas , close to being a regular...I hope so anyway...

We need more of the youth pushing on now....Come on young Pulis, pull your finger out.

I do not understand why Antonio would want to go to Charlton over us, or if he is available, why we are not going in there for him ( if we aren't )

Antonio's from South London. A move back there might appeal for that reason (aside from the fact that Charlton are a big side in this league).

I think we should avoid speculation about players going wherever after the OS report on our new signing

Maybe it was a hint that antonnio is not going to Charlton and we are waiting for his contract to end in the next few days at reading before we sign him on a permanent basis

We will be waiting till next year then, Reading enforced a year extension.

Young Chamberlain is a long way from being part of a team that could run away with the league.I doubt AP is thinking on playing him as a regular.

Antonio will rejoin us, if the very little I heard is correct.

You may be correct.

Like you I would like to see Antonio return but still feel that The Ox is going to break through sooner than later.

Many more starts as the season progresses.

But then again we may be surprised with our new signings...If Antonio and Papa go elsewhere.
