Saint in Paradise Posted 5 June, 2010 Share Posted 5 June, 2010 Valentino Rossi is recovering in hospital after surgery to repair the compound fracture of his right leg he suffered on Saturday. The 31-year-old reigning MotoGP world champion faces up to three months out after crashing in practice for Sunday's Italian MotoGP at Mugello. When qualifying for Sunday's race took place in the afternoon, Dani Pedrosa set the fastest time, ahead of Lorenzo and Casey Stoner. All three riders sent their sympathy and best wishes to their rival. I actually think that Lorenzo will be upset as if he wins the Championship this year there will a bit of a cloud over it. People will always say yes he won, but only because Rossi had been injured. chrisobee Posted 6 June, 2010 Share Posted 6 June, 2010 That's very unfortunate. I have no doubt all the other riders will be genuinely sorry. One thing I love about this sport is the genuine camaraderie and respect amongst riders going back to the late great Barry Sheene and his epic battles with Kenny Roberts. Even as a non motor cyclist that was just thrilling to watch and I've loved motor cycle racing ever since.
