I think this would be a good signing. While I am sorry about Charltons precarious financial position and I am looking foward to the Antigallican and the usual maltreatment by the Met Police this coming season - if we can benefit - great!!

Got a great surname . . . :p

Seriously though, I mentioned his name as a potential signing after his penalty miss for Charlton in the playoffs.

He'd be a great addition to the squad, be delighted if we pulled this one off.

Wowzers, that's a marquee signing should we get him. We have Pardew so that's a postive factor in bringing him to the club, but Norwich's league status may prove the difference.

I'm not suggesting Norwich will struggle next season (I'd get a kick in the nuts from the missus if I suggest that), but perhaps a successful season with the League One's best team could persuade him to come - I'm doubtful though, as Charlton will be wanting to mount a promotion challenge of their own. Is there that much difference between us and Charlton at the moment? I'm not so sure...

Norwich will not sign him.. they signed another midfield player today..

FACT

further up the thread.. you will see my post.. I asked them... I'm not kidding

Norwich pulled out as soon as Charlton told them the price.

Spend some time on a Charlton forum. Their fans are resigned to selling players. They mutter about £30 million debts. Selling Bailey is mentioned as a way of potentially avoiding selling a handful of other players. Charlton seems to be where we were at the when we replaced Pearson with Poortvliet; depressed, resigned, shrouded in gloom (albeit Charlton aren't in the Championship).

IMO the only way Charlton will mount a challenge this season is if the rest of the league all plays well below par.

You mean that penalty miss that I predicted? ;) - I still need to do your lottery numbers!

Totally agreed with you. Controversial, but I think he'd be a better signing than Stock.

Bailey can ping cross-field balls around with either foot. He's not just a ball winner.

he's not a ball winner from what I have seen if him. He's a goalscoring midfielder that gets in the box a lot. Samedo is the ball winner in their side. Actually every time I've seen Bailey he has played out wide.

Never mind all that, he's ginger, what top players are ginger? When has a ginger player been any good for Saints? I dont want him at my club.

You really are making a loud statement about yourself here! Would you say the same if he was asian/chinese.

He was Swedish, he doesn't count. We dont want "them" in our club. If i have to go to another game with c**ting people wearing ginger wigs.

Speak for yourself!

I dont care what colour/race/faith/nationality/hair colour our players posess, i just want them to play well for the club.

You sir are an ar*ehole!

Stop being so politically correct, everyone hates gingers, even if they are good players. I dont want them on our pitch or any women in our stands.

You did get one thing right though, calling me Sir.

Alan Ball.

30 years ago, great. And he wasn't really ginger, more rusty, Bailey is real ginge, not welcome.

Well you asked the question, without any time limits.

Bally was brilliant for us,and I maintain "ginger".At a time when battling ginger midfielders were in vogue,Ball,Bremner etc.The trend continued with WGS as a player.
