Talksport have heard a rumour (and its a just a rumour) that its a serious injury.

Also reported that Drogba has apparently fractured his elbow in yesterdays friendly so also now doubtful for the WC.

But to be fair TalkSport are a load of sh1111t-spreading w@nkers.

Usually... :o

Sky are reporting that Dawson is on stand by. I'd give the captains armband to gerrard, perhaps it may be the kick he needs for him to finally reproduce club form on the international stage

Gerrard doesn't need a kick anywhere, he just needs to play in the correct position.

TBF he looked good playing a freeish role on the left, but it is the fact Lampard can't defend for tofee that nullifies Gerrards attacking instincts.

Just realised that the match Drogba was playing in is that "three halves" game with Japan I read about the other day. All 23 squad players are playing for both sides and the game is 135 minutes long split into 3 x 45 minute periods.

That's going to cost them if the injury is true. We all know how deadly Kalou is from 5 yards with an open goal...

To be fair he went off injured after about 15 minutes.

Carragher in the team, dawson in the squad, Gerrard captain.

A Carra-Terry partnership has no pace however....

tbf after this season i'm not sure Rio is full of pace either, very slow whenever i've seen him in the last year or so.

i'm don't think Rio missing out will be a massive disaster.

Now confirmed he's gone. Dawson flying out in the next 12 hours.

Told you bringing Heskey was a bad thing.

I don't think i have ever seen that big lump challenge anyone, and now he has injured the england captain !!

I understand the arguement that he can be very error prone (Rio) but when he is good, he is very good and has a decent partnership with Terry.

Will this be King's moment?

IF he plays to his club form then he will be a better choice than Rio who has been off the pace all year and so this could be good news.

But if we lst another CB - Upson or Carragher against anyone other than a barn door - ouch

Likewise. At least we don't have to put up with Rio's "really dumb guy trying to sound intelligent" press conferences.

Merked. Guffaw. :(

Such an unfortunate time to get injured. For me he was the best centre back in the league the season before last, infact he was probably the reason Man city spent so much money on Lescott.
