Smirking_Saint Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 That was pretty dire, i thought Huddlestone was the only player to stand out in the first half, Lampard is just completely pedestrian. Walcott just doesn't seem up to it and Johnson is unfortunately error prone in defence. Why oh why when Ferdinand f*cks up does he have to turn and moan at someone else ?? 2nd Half was better, we looked more imposing and had more ideas, puzzled as to why SWP and Heskey are playing when they had little game time to the end of the season ?? Why not try Adam Johnson on the left ?? It also bugs me that when Gerrard and Lamps play together Lampard still plays in his pedestrian wander around the box role, this totally negates the attributes that have made Liverpool into a fairly good team recently.........Gerrard. I would play him just off of rooney, OR play Cole just of rooney and Gerrard in midfield with a holding player. Also, Crouch needs to be played instead of Heskey in the hold up role, purely because he is also a goal threat. I am not confident after this afternoon, rant over

Says he clutching at straws.

Hatch Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 Walcott is bloody useless. They should just sit him down and make him watch hours and hours of football videos for the next 12 months. It's like he doesn't actually know what to do.
Jez Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 Huddleston on the post and James stood next to him couldn't block it. It was Ashley Cole on the post and it went straight through his legs. The player who scored kind of had Johnson marking him, or was it Ferdinand, either way Johnson went with him when it didn't look his man, and Ferdinand ended up marking no one, bit bizarre considering he is the England captain and is not capable of marking from a simple corner. It's like he doesn't actually know what to do. I still think his best postion is centre forward. Henry started out as nothing but a quick winger, but was moved there and the rest is history. Nobody seems to want to try Walcott in that position though.
Smirking_Saint Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 Walcott needs to leave Arsenal to progress IMO. He is not technically good enough to be an arsenal player but would be fantastic in another team. It really is a shame and IMO was doomed when he left us as early as he did, mind you the club situation didn't help.
hypochondriac Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 why? best player. maybe not today but our best player on the whole hypo - massive w$nker? Why does being a good player make hum less of a w*nker? I hate the guy and have never liked him. People excuse his cynical behaviour because he is our best player and it's "part of his game." Now call me old fashioned but I vastly prefer a fantastically skillful player who doesn't act like a complete tw*t both on and off the pitch on occasion. Someone like Lineker or Beckham for example (though I appreciate of course that the latter had his moments.) Of course because you don't agree that somehow makes me a w*nker but at least I'm capable of disagreeing with you without insulting you. Ho hum. keithd Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 ah you explained yourself! now if you'd done that in the first place instead of just shouting obscenities at our best chance of winning the damned thing you wouldn't have forced me into dragging it out of you. and yes if that's what you want in a modern footballer I will indeed call you old fashioned, skillfull and acting in an honourable fashion just doesn't happen anymore it seems. certainly no player from this country springs to mind ... skintsaint Posted 31 May, 2010 Share Posted 31 May, 2010 we will still get to the final...dont ye worry. Two warm up games and no major injuries. Cestrian Saint Posted 31 May, 2010 Share Posted 31 May, 2010 I keep hearing rumours that FC isn't going to take Joe Cole. This would be a big mistake IMO. I'd also like to see Joe Hart starting. He's obviously going to be the future England keeper, so why not start playing him now? There's no reason why he can't make that position his for the next 10-15 years, so why pick a keeper that's at the end of his career over him? bolo Posted 31 May, 2010 Share Posted 31 May, 2010 Seriously, anybody who still advocates playing both Gerrard and Lampard in the same team needs to wake up. JackFrost Posted 31 May, 2010 Share Posted 31 May, 2010 In the last 10-12 years or so most of the England team have been a bunch of spoilt brats, the likes of Rio, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney etc. tend to underperform for England simply because they know they are guaranteed a starting spot no mater how matter how badly they perform. Maybe it's FA interference or not, but I thought it might change as soon as capello took over but it hasn't. Until it changes England are going to win bugger all, the England team are more of a marketing brand than a football team. Crouch is easily out most potent goalscoring threat, and should be starting every game. One word regarding Heskey, why? SA will be the usual story, we'll have the class to get through the group stages but as soon as we come up against a better team the players will fail to raise their game and we'll go out in the QF/SF if we're lucky

He plays in that position for Liverpool and has dragged a very average team into the top 4 for the past good knows how long. Equally i remember when he burst onto the international team we didn't lose a game for ages when he played. TBH he is a better all round midfielder then Lampard, the latter who only looks good in a chelsea shirt as the team is built around him. If we had coaches that could get the best out of Gerrard from the start we would have had much better results then we have had so far.

Gerrard has never produced his club form for England because like a lot of the squad his heart isn't in it a lot of the time. Also when playing for England Gerrard is a horrendous diver which IMO unconsciously affects a player's form. Ronaldo and Drogba used to dive far more regularly than they do now and both of them hit top form as soon as they reduced it.
