stu0x Posted 28 May, 2010 Share Posted 28 May, 2010 If he turns out like Walcott I'd be more than happy. Lee Holmes might be a better comparision, set for huge things as a 15/16 yr old and never really forfilled it. Although if he's been playing for Benfica, Monaco and Aris then he should be quality at this level. 5 goals in 19 games at Benfica, probably most of his appearances were as a sub as well, so not too bad. Probably because he wasn't actually 15/16 at the time. It's amazing how many African footballers are so good at such an early age (and oddly enough have the bodies of someone 5 years older as well...), but they all seem to peak at about '20'. Red And White Barmy Army Posted 28 May, 2010 Share Posted 28 May, 2010 He's originally from Ghana - I've worked with a football academy in Ghana and all the boys are registered several years below their real age - normally 2-4 years. I've seen a 16 yr old registered as 11 so he could play in an under 12 team - its why Ghana and Nigeria perform so well at under 20 level and fifa want to introduce bone scanning... I doubt he is 20... would still be a brilliant signing tho small world! which academy were u at?

IamLeGod Posted 28 May, 2010 Share Posted 28 May, 2010 Get a grip please. This really is embarrassing. Freddy Adu is not going to come here. And before someone pipe's up with the why does it keep getting mentioned stuff, it is the nature of football forums and silly season. Every single transfer window Blue Kipper (Everton fans site) goes mental at rumours of Joao Moutinho joining, never happens, never will. Much like adu and us. The more I think about this, the more I don't want this to happen anyway. If Adu was a random player no one has heard of but with the same record, most people would be very dubious about the potential signing. I'd much rather one of Antonio or Papa on the basis that we know they cdajfu.

instinct Posted 28 May, 2010 Share Posted 28 May, 2010 small world! which academy were u at? Ultimate in Kwahu-Tafo - our u-12s and u-17s recently won the Eastern region FA Cup and one of the u-17 has been selected for the Ghana national u-17 side. Where where you? Quite a few of the Ultimate boys are Saints fans :-)

If we get either Papa or Antonio or both of them please Mr Pardew, i'll be very happy indeed, they both showed they are more than capable of doing a great job for us, and as has already been said on other threads, both are responsible for turning games around on their introduction onto the pitch last season, Adu has a big reputation to play up to, but i'd rather we have players that have already shown that they can produce for our club in this division back here, and we can probably get both of them for the same wage that Adu alone would want. Agree with you and Dig Dig on this. Trouble is that we don't know if either Papa or Antonio (or both) really want to come back to us. No doubt AP and NC will be looking for equal or better if they won't return.
Clifford Nelson Posted 28 May, 2010 Share Posted 28 May, 2010 Adu is looking for playing regularly and re-starting a career which hasn't gotten anywhere since before he joined Real Salt Lake. Maybe he can, maybe he can't, but he isn't a current superstar on the pitch and L1 with us must for him seem as good as anything else. On his current history there is more chance that he'll become another bit player than a superstar. I really can't fathom what all the unbridled enthusiasm is all about. Saint_Jimbo83 Posted 29 May, 2010 Share Posted 29 May, 2010 I think the Adu rumour has been put out there to throw other clubs off the scent of our prime target. I can reveal Saints have infact been tracking another former child prodigy:- I sent him a "tweet" to see if he knew about our interest. He replied "What you talkin' bout Willis";) You killed him!!
