Graffito Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Saints seeking work permit for Adu. Not the most reliable source but I guess they may have picked it up from elsewhere. He's supposed to be good isn't he? http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/423088200?-11205
NickG Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 (edited) Not sure about that site? Edited 27 May, 2010 by NickG

whizzpop Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Would be a good signing...will get us noticed more. But he hasn't fulfilled the potential he was given as a 15 year old. Much like Walcott.
B Rabbit Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 A good signing?! it would be a****ing incredible signing!! He would run riot in this league..he's still only about 20-21 isn't he?
SNSUN Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 I feel this would be Much Adu About Nothing. Does anyone get a sense of de ja vu? :-) Yes, he'd be a high profile signing, but his career has taken a tumble - can we make him the man version of the kid that had so much promise?
doggface Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 The only site I have seen this on is via 606 and rocket Swanie. nuff said
whiteleySaint30 Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Would prefer Papa or antonio back anyday. This boy has done nothing for years. He was used by Nike to be their 'brand' in the USA as he had massive potential which unfortunately he didnt fulfill hence why he is playing for a greek team no one has heard of.
whiteleySaint30 Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Add to that he fact he failed to make the USA world cup squad.
fish fingers Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Add to that he fact he failed to make the USA world cup squad. So we should only sign players who are going to the World Cup?
whiteleySaint30 Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Not suggesting that, just saying he has fallen by the wayside somewhat, he was in the sqaud at the age of 16 but now plays in greece for an un heard of team.
ribbo Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 So we should only sign players who are going to the World Cup? no but it gives you an idea of how he has fallen, i'd prefer lallana anyday.
SNSUN Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Not suggesting that, just saying he has fallen by the wayside somewhat, he was in the sqaud at the age of 16 but now plays in greece for an un heard of team. Unheard of by us - they apparently finished fourth in their top flight last season.
suspect everyone Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 If we sign this guy we can definitely kiss League One "Adu". Heeeyyyy ooohhhh!!!
SNSUN Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Good preparation IMO - If we sign him, I think we will be "freddie" for promotion to the nPC.
scott_saints Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 I love orange soda. Is it true? Adu Adu Adu Adu Aduuuuu.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Hope this is true = incredible signing and massive statement of intent for future.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Hope this is true = incredible signing and massive statement of intent for future. He was 'The Dogs' back when he was 14, but I was reading an article on him in 442 recently and he really hasn't lived up to the hype...regardless, still WAY to good for League1.
B Rabbit Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 He might see it as a move to get his career back on track...Maybe too much pressure got to him at a young age and he rushed to European big clubs and didn't produce...coming here may be very good for him... I'd be incredibly impressed if we pulled this signing off
RedAndWhite91 Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Someone asked him on twitter and he replied that he hasn't heard anything about it.

stmusicdude Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 So we should only sign players who are going to the World Cup? I know this poster's sentence was quite long, it had over 5 words but I dont think this is what he said is it?
buctootim Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 21 Goals from 142 appearances at five clubs in four countries by the age of 20. Should be great for team morale.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Hope this is true = incredible signing and massive statement of intent for future. Comments like this should now be infractionable! Come on mods make a massive statemment of intent for the future and start handing out infraction points for nonsense/cringey posts.
Saint_clark Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 If they sourced this from somewhere other than 606 then there is obviously something in it.
Huntingdon Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 I'd be astonished if he signed, but like others have already said - it shows how far he has recently declined I don't doubt that we have made an enquiry This would suggest Papa Waigo probably won't return
Iowsaintsfan Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 I love orange soda. Is it true? Adu Adu Adu Adu Aduuuuu. I dont know if i should be worried or not that i actually know what you are talking about! - Kel loves orange soda!
farawaysaint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 I dont know if i should be worried or not that i actually know what you are talking about! - Kel loves orange soda! Is it true? Mmmmmhmmmmm I do I do I dooooooo. That's going back a few years
RedAndWhite91 Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 I think the link between him and us is A dubious one at best.
Dig Dig Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Is it true? Mmmmmhmmmmm I do I do I dooooooo. That's going back a few years You guys have just made an horrific memory re-surface
hypochondriac Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Also got to laugh at hypo pimping the club Just cos I think the story is a load of w*nk, doesn't mean I wouldn't fercking love it to be true! (Don't tell him it's a step down from Benefica!)
Matthew Le God Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Have you told him on twitter he could be playing for a billionaire, in an English speaking county with "similar" culture to his homeland, in a shiny 32k stadium and winning League One winners medal in front of crowds of 20k+ yet?
once_bitterne Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 If this comes off Tiggy Tit may well cum in his pants.
hypochondriac Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Have you told him on twitter he could be playing for a billionaire, in an English speaking county with "similar" culture to his homeland, in a shiny 32k stadium and winning League One winners medal in front of crowds of 20k+ yet? I did mention the billionaire!
Clifford Nelson Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 21 Goals from 142 appearances at five clubs in four countries by the age of 20. Should be great for team morale. Is somebody who scores 1 in 7 great for team morale?
saintscottofthenortham Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 How come my thread of this was closed yesterday? I find it amusing how there are people on here saying they would like us to sign Papa Waigo permanantly but right Freddy Adu off because he "failed to live upto the hype." guys who are capable of this... - At the age of just 16, don't lose that abilty down a drainpipe all of a sudden. He was hyped at an incredibly young age and it affected him. Benfica are trying to gently get him back to his best. If they see us a way to get him there, I certainly ain't gonna grumble just because he "failed" to be what he was "hyped" to be. Papa Waigo or Freddy Adu... LOL.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Is somebody who scores 1 in 7 great for team morale? He isn't a Striker. He is a midfielder... Who can play as a forward.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Bart wouldn't like to meet him in training! Adu scored two goals against him in USA vs Poland at the under 20 World Cup
VectisSaint Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 Not suggesting that, just saying he has fallen by the wayside somewhat, he was in the sqaud at the age of 16 but now plays in greece for an un heard of team. Unheard of? Aris are one of the top teams in Greek, beaten cup finalists this season, played in Europe on many occassions. Of course he is owned by that unheard of Portuguese team Benfica.
Jez Posted 27 May, 2010 Posted 27 May, 2010 f**ck me, I LOVE Freddy Adu!!! This best be true! Although only the one rumour so far, I won't hold my breath
