I'm desperate, Beatle, I need all the help I can get.

I thought he has a sparky, He's always going on about that.

he may have been but living in Weymouth at the time I remember it clearly - big news in the Dorset Evening Echo that was !!

"Anyway, regardless the next question is can anyone compile a Saints team consisting only of Scottish players ? Pretty easy I suggest. !

Not as easy as you might think. I've been wracking my brains and am still short of quite a few..

Forwards:

J Jordan, Paterson

Midfield:

Mcann, Quashie, McCalliog

Defence:

err... Telfer

Keeper:

Martin

Perhaps somebody else might fill in the blanks for me.

Eric Martin, Ian White, George O'Brien (or Gerry depending which you were referring to), Stephen Crainey, Mike McCartney, Jack McDonald, Paul McDonald, Tom McGarrity, Jimmy McGowan, John McGuigan, Stuart McManus, Tommy Mulgrew

So thats the Saints Scottish Reserve team including a sub.

Think an Irish or Welsh Saints XI might be more challenging.

Not exactly a Saints legend, but David Speedie was once a useful player I believe. Also that Stephen Crainey playing for Blackpool played a couple of games for us and I had a suspicion he might have made an appearance for the Scots (not hard these days)

You you could be right but I think he was more than 25 when he played for Pompey

I'm pretty sure of this so I'll ask one anyway.

Ron Davies scored a hat-trick away against ManUre in 1969. Who was the next Saints player to score an away hat-trick, also against a Manchester team.

Ok, another 80's one -

Who was the first ON LOAN player to ever score for Southampton ?

I know who was the last Loan player to score for Saints but I have no idea who was the first;)

But I know now and may have in fact seen the goal if it was down the dell

It was against Aston Villa. They ****ed all over us, Shilton was incredible that day, and Fash popped up with the only goal of the game.

Your turn Hatch btw :)

Maik Taylor and Jim Magilton would boost that team - I really meant a Welsh team or an Irish team, not combined, but I think you knew that.

Strange thing, I ignored Speedie in my previous post, not because he was crap, though he was, but because I was under the impression he was born in Belfast. Think this must be a typo in "In That Number" - shame on you Duncan

Unable to get a reasonable Irish or Welsh team I thought

But maybe a Scandinavian one would be good
