Wiltshire Saint Posted 25 May, 2010 Posted 25 May, 2010 A 3 parter question.....you have to get all 3 correct to get the question right and win the chance of asking your own question: (a) What year did Saints last win the FA cup? (b) Who were their opposition on the day? © Who scored the winning goal for Saints? (clue: his Grandson plays for Hibs at the moment)

Colinjb Posted 25 May, 2010 Author Posted 25 May, 2010 Crossley... My typo. Only the question poster can confirm the answer.
Lets B Avenue Posted 25 May, 2010 Posted 25 May, 2010 Yep me. Only two people have ever stopped a MLT penalty, first was Crossley and the 2nd? Didn't he miss one on a Soccer Saturday Xmas show a couple of years ago?
hamster Posted 25 May, 2010 Posted 25 May, 2010 Didn't he miss one on a Soccer Saturday Xmas show a couple of years ago? That's a very strenuous Saints link don't you think? Anyway, it's not your turn to ask the question yet.

Apologies for answering a question with a question. He only missed one in league and cup action, so I assumed the correct answer was something tenuous. Thats t e n u o u s.
Appy Posted 25 May, 2010 Posted 25 May, 2010 Who scored Saints first goal in the Coca Cola Championship?

hamster Posted 25 May, 2010 Posted 25 May, 2010 Who scored Saints first goal in the Coca Cola Championship? It was an OG iirc Pompey highest goalscorer in the Prem starngely enough.
Appy Posted 25 May, 2010 Posted 25 May, 2010 It was an OG iirc Pompey highest goalscorer in the Prem starngely enough. Incorrect i'm afraid.
Lets B Avenue Posted 25 May, 2010 Posted 25 May, 2010 Who scored Saints first goal in the Coca Cola Championship? Matt Oakley v. Luton away. Aug 05
Lets B Avenue Posted 25 May, 2010 Posted 25 May, 2010 Where did Saints do their pre-season training from 67-73? McMenemy changed it after he became Manager. Right here's mine. Terry Paine had a business venture in the town whilst he played for us. What was it and where was it? Fruit and Veg shop. Howards Rd, Foyes Corner. Well done Ron, for gettig La Ling. He looked brilliant that night he played for us.
RonManager Posted 25 May, 2010 Posted 25 May, 2010 Haven't seen 62 answered yet.... it was Fruit and Veg shop at Foys Corner just round from Pete's Takeaway. Correct - sorry been away watching the last 4 episodes of Ashes to Ashes back to back so only just got back from 1983!!

I must come clean on the La Ling ting - I looked it up in Duncan's book. my Saints history knowledge is good but not that good!!
Hamilton Saint Posted 26 May, 2010 Posted 26 May, 2010 but first, who saved a le Tiss pen other then Beasant. Obey the rules now. Trick question? I always thought MLT scored 48 out of the 49 penalties he took.
chrisobee Posted 26 May, 2010 Posted 26 May, 2010 The next question now I have joined this thread is is there actually a question awaiting an answer :smt102 Anyway, regardless the next question is can anyone compile a Saints team consisting only of Scottish player ? Pretty easy I suggest.
chrisobee Posted 26 May, 2010 Posted 26 May, 2010 (edited) Trick question? I always thought MLT scored 48 out of the 49 penalties he took. Oh now there is a question ! It was the Notts Forest goalkeeper whose name I'm trying hard to remember..............Mark Crossley. Edit Which has already been answered, a bl**dy simple thread made very difficult Edited 26 May, 2010 by chrisobee Utter confusion..
Pilchards Posted 26 May, 2010 Posted 26 May, 2010 The answer to the only person to save a MLT penalty other than Crossley is...... Steve Bull! I was working with his sister last week and MLT told him that he is the only other person which happened in a penalty shootout at half time. Who's Steve Bull you might ask? He was the celebrity fat bloke who used to swing his belly in front of the camera's, he was given a free season ticket by the club. He has taken a step back now after he got beaten up by some other teams supporters and was also threatened by fellow saints fans too.

I would have assumed it was the ex Wolves centre forward you were talking about !

He did have to sit right at the bottom of the Northam, as he truly was too large to get even a few steps up. He also took up 2 Seats, which I think is why he would obtain a "Free" ST each year as he would pay for the other one. This is my first year of being a STH and was suprised to see Steve stood only a few rows down from me on a number of occasions this year. Has lost alot of weight, but still on the large side. The last time I saw him there was ages ago... Stockport I think and they were giving him some right stick across the barrier. Off topic I know... my bad.
Lumypie Posted 26 May, 2010 Posted 26 May, 2010 Which defender scored the only goal Saints in the cup match vs Oxford in the mid 90's? If your really clever(sad) describe it?
SNSUN Posted 26 May, 2010 Posted 26 May, 2010 Which defender scored the only goal Saints in the cup match vs Oxford in the mid 90's? If your really clever(sad) describe it? Richard Dryden. He received the ball 35 yards from goal, cut inside and curled a shot from 20 yards into the top left corner. (Actually I remembered it was Dryden, Wiki had the description of the goal!) Q: Besides letting in seven goals vs Everton, what ended Chris Woods stint at The Dell?
Lumypie Posted 26 May, 2010 Posted 26 May, 2010 Correct, stood right behind the goal in utter disbelief he did that especially in the last minute of the game? Chris woods career ended by a shoulder injury?
