Hamilton Saint Posted 10 June, 2010 Posted 10 June, 2010 Which former Yeovil and Forest player made the bench for a few occasions in the period around our cup final appearance in 2003? Arron Davies
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 June, 2010 Posted 10 June, 2010 Yep. Your turn. Which game did Terry Paine play in during the '66 World Cup?
Colinjb Posted 10 June, 2010 Author Posted 10 June, 2010 Which game did Terry Paine play in during the '66 World Cup? v Mexico. 16/7/1966.
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 June, 2010 Posted 10 June, 2010 v Mexico. 16/7/1966. Correct. One of four squad members who played for England during the '66 World Cup tournament, but didn't play in the Final.

Well it was more recent than 1903 ! 2 games in 1921/22: h Saints 1 Aberdare 0 a Aberdare 0 Saints 1 We won Div 3 South that year and were unbeaten at home.
chrisobee Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 Someone post another Q, a little busy here. Oh, if you insist An easy one : What do Tony Knapp, Jimmy Melia, Tommy Jenkins and Brian O'Neil all have in common ?
Lets B Avenue Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 They were our record signing, when they signed.
chrisobee Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 They were our record signing, when they signed. Indeed, lets be having the next question
Lets B Avenue Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 Who played in goal in the only game Shilts missed in the 83-84 season?
Colinjb Posted 11 June, 2010 Author Posted 11 June, 2010 Who played in goal in the only game Shilts missed in the 83-84 season? Alastair Sperring, away to Rotherham in the league cup.
Lets B Avenue Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 Alastair Sperring, away to Rotherham in the league cup. Put the book away.
Colinjb Posted 11 June, 2010 Author Posted 11 June, 2010 Put the book away. What book? I was there, as a foetus, honest!
sidthesquid Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 What book? I was there, as a foetus, honest! As we don't have a question and an irrelevant fact springs to mind, namely that Sperring is part of a (not so!) elite group of players to have featured in cup games but never made a league appearance for Saints. Can you name the others since the resumption of league football after WW2?
chrisobee Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 What book? I was there, as a foetus, honest! That was too easy Where is the next question, still nearly 2 hours until SA v Mexico !
chrisobee Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 As we don't have a question and an irrelevant fact springs to mind, namely that Sperring is part of a (not so!) elite group of players to have featured in cup games but never made a league appearance for Saints. Can you name the others since the resumption of league football after WW2? No, do I get a point
sidthesquid Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 No, do I get a point Good question. The answer is no.
chrisobee Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 Well absolutely none spring to mind, maybe with so many comings and goings in recent seasons there might be a few.
Colinjb Posted 11 June, 2010 Author Posted 11 June, 2010 Nice q, as it's a plural answer job no points can be given. But I would like to know! Is Marcelo Sarmiento one of them?
sidthesquid Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 Nice q, as it's a plural answer job no points can be given. But I would like to know! Is Marcelo Sarmiento one of them? Yes
lambertsrightleg Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 marcelo tejera. Didn't he play away to Northampton in the Carling Cup in 2005?
Lets B Avenue Posted 11 June, 2010 Posted 11 June, 2010 marcelo tejera. Didn't he play away to Northampton in the Carling Cup in 2005? No. How's about Bledelis (Tranmere horror night).
sidthesquid Posted 12 June, 2010 Posted 12 June, 2010 No. How's about Bledelis (Tranmere horror night). He also appeared in a couple of League games as sub. I confess I thought there was one other, but now I can't remember!!
chrisobee Posted 13 June, 2010 Posted 13 June, 2010 He also appeared in a couple of League games as sub. I confess I thought there was one other, but now I can't remember!! So you've outsmarted yourself
MbaleSaint Posted 16 June, 2010 Posted 16 June, 2010 Silence for a while so here's an easy one to re-start: Who scored the winner at Middlesbrough to take us top of the First Division for the first time ever in the early 80s?
