Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 23 May, 2010 Posted 23 May, 2010 Winner: Spain Runner up: England (If we don't meet them before hand) Biggest Suprise: Ivory Coast winning 3rd place play-off.
RonManager Posted 23 May, 2010 Posted 23 May, 2010 Working purely on the law of averages - England to win it.
doubleonothing Posted 23 May, 2010 Posted 23 May, 2010 Heart says England Head says Spain Record defeats for Saudi Arabia/North Korea/New Zealand
Saint_lambden Posted 23 May, 2010 Posted 23 May, 2010 Winner: Spain Runner up: Argentina Biggest Surprise: England not losing on Penalties but in Extra-Time by Spain England get knocked out at: see above.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 23 May, 2010 Posted 23 May, 2010 Seeing as England only ever win a world cup under a Labour government ;-) England fail to win a game and get knocked out in the group stage. Rooney injured or sent off at some point for retaliating against rough treatment from opposition defenders. England player exposed in sex scandal by the Daily Mail and John Terry caught snorting cocaine the week before the finals begin. Italy to retain cup with defensive master class display with ten men and win on pens in final.
Badger Posted 23 May, 2010 Posted 23 May, 2010 robben for player of the tournament The first Lee Holmes ?
Badger Posted 23 May, 2010 Posted 23 May, 2010 England go out at quarter final stage - prrobably on penalties. Rooney to be our highest ranking injury catastrophe in this years Broken Metatarsal Stakes.
saints-cris Posted 23 May, 2010 Posted 23 May, 2010 England to get to the Semi's and Spain to win. Biggest surprise, I'll go for Ivory Coast, maybe Chile who did pretty well in qualification.
sydney_saint Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Heart says England Head says Spain Record defeats for Saudi Arabia/North Korea/New Zealand[/Q Wee bit harsh on Saudi Arabia IMHO Unless Germany are still scoring from that match in 2002, they aren't actually in it. Also Asian football really isn't as bad as some believe. New Zealand (oceania yes I know but close enough) will be difficult to break down and we have no idea what surprises North Korea will bring, they did knock out both Saudi Arabia and I think Iran to qualify, both are decent footballing sides.
Saint in Paradise Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 NZ will lose every game, best result 1-0 then the other two by 3-0 England will once again struggle to get through group and then get knocked out 1-0 Scotland will qualify for Brazil in 2014 .
MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Mexico will win and you heard it here first
JackFrost Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Spain to win it Biggest surprise - Either Messi dragging Argentina into the Semi Finals/Final or North Korea getting into the knockout stages;)
Draino76 Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Winner; England. Runner up; Italy. Spain out in the quarter finals. Rooney golden boot. Crouch to score an overhead kick against Australia.
Scummer Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Lot of people favouring Argentina. They were pretty awful in qualifying, Maradona appears to be a shocking manager.
Appy Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Winner: England Runner Up: Germany Has that happened before?
Thedelldays Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 winner - England Runner up - Brazil Golden boot - Rooney on complettion, the whole country grinds to a halt in complete meltdown..law and order as we know it is abolished and military rule is enforces to quell the celebrations
JackFrost Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Lot of people favouring Argentina. They were pretty awful in qualifying, Maradona appears to be a shocking manager. They have had a couple of very good results in friendlies since. I believe they beat Germany away recently?
Thedelldays Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 They have had a couple of very good results in friendlies since. I believe they beat Germany away recently? to be fair..they have a very very good squad...if they play well, they will be very dangerous

jawillwill Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Winners: Spain Runners-up: France (Score in the final 4-2) 3rd place: Holland 4th: Germany England will finish second in their group and get knocked up by the Germans, 3-1 AET. The biggest surprise will be South Africa getting to the quater final (losing it on penalties). Alonso will be player of the tournament. Tournament top scorer will be Villa England's joint top scorers will be Fat Lumpard and Peter Crouch both with 2 goals. David James will concede at least 1 comedy goal. Goal of the tournament will be scored by Messi v Nigeria Christiano Ronaldo will go off injured within the first half of Portugals first match. Ian Wright will annoy me if he's on the BBC. Gareth Southgate will annoy me whatever channel he's on. Rooney will not get any yellow cards.
pedg Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Rooney will not get any yellow cards. Leaving the door open for straight red's then?
Draino76 Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 33/1 http://www.paddypower.com/football/football-specials/world-cup-specials?ev_oc_grp_ids=242543 Get on it!! P.S. How's the fat Russian? Yes I saw that already! There is a spudsweb thread somewhere that claim to have let Crouchie know about this! The fat Russian is still trolling around London working in a bar, but not at my place. Sweet.

Gully Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Winner: Brazil Runner Up: England Top Scorer: Luis Fabiano Best Player: Wayne Rooney Suprise package: Serbia Underachiever: Spain
SNSUN Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Winner: Argentina Runner Up: Spain. (I don't know whether that's possible, I haven't checked.) Underachievers: France Overachievers: USA England will go out: Last 16. English fans shock of the tournament: Rooney injured in 4th minute of the USA game, ruled out of tournament. English fans suprise of the tournament: Crouch to step up in Rooney's absence and bag 4 goals in the tournament.
Dark Munster Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Lot of people favouring Argentina. They were pretty awful in qualifying, Maradona appears to be a shocking manager. True, but they have a scary amount of talent. France had an shocking manager last time, but got to within penalty kicks of winning.
Dark Munster Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 Mexico will win and you heard it here first And last?
Dark Munster Posted 24 May, 2010 Posted 24 May, 2010 England go out at quarter final stage - prrobably on penalties. Rooney to be our highest ranking injury catastrophe in this years Broken Metatarsal Stakes. +1 Against the Germans or Portuguese.
Andy_Porter Posted 26 May, 2010 Posted 26 May, 2010 to be fair..they have a very very good squad...if they play well, they will be very dangerous Any squad with attacking talent like Di Maria, Tevez, Messi, Higuain, Milito and Aguero will be dangerous - just a shame Maradona likes to play Guttierez and pick a squad where Veron is there only real attacking midfielder. A proper manager and they would be strong favourites IMO. FWIW I think Spain or Brazil will win. France will underachieve again because Domenech is just awful.

Thank God they haven't sacked him yet. He's the French version of this clown.
syd_barrett_saint Posted 30 May, 2010 Posted 30 May, 2010 (edited) Anyone who thinks Argentina have a chance is completely mad. Great players, but possibly the worst "manager" in the tournament, and Messi just does not turn up when playing for Argentina (mainly because Maradona doesn't play a system to suit him). Also, 4 centre backs and Veron in midfield??? I think one out of Brazil, Spain, England or Italy will win the tournament (in that order of probability). Top scorer will be Luis Fabiano, Villa or Rooney. Surprise of the tournament will be Chile or Paraguay - would definitely have gone for the latter if their best player hadn't been shot in the head!!! Both should get further than Argentina in the competition (who I think are quite likely to go out in the group stage, with Nigeria and Greece qualifying ahead of them... although actually, I'd LOVE to see Argentina go through and then lose to Uruguay in the next round!). Smirking_Saint Posted 30 May, 2010 Posted 30 May, 2010 Winner will be Spain Runners up will be Holland (possible ?) Overachievers - USA Underperformers - Portugal/France Top Scorer - Nilmar Player of tournament - Messi
SuperMikey Posted 30 May, 2010 Posted 30 May, 2010 Tournament structure here to help predictors out: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/groups_and_teams
markr27 Posted 30 May, 2010 Posted 30 May, 2010 (edited) I think if England win the group, they are gaurenteed a 19:30 k/o game all the way to the final? An occurrance that would be ideal for keeping sicknotes at work to a minimum I'll check again, but I'm sure that's accurate.... edit - tis correct. benjii Posted 31 May, 2010 Posted 31 May, 2010 I think England will lose in the Second Round. I wonder what the price is for that. Might be worth a few squid.
St Landrew Posted 31 May, 2010 Posted 31 May, 2010 Italy each way. England will stumble at the first team who are considered as being capable of giving them a bit of a game.
Thedelldays Posted 31 May, 2010 Posted 31 May, 2010 seriously...I think we will be lucky to get to the 1/4 finals. we have been terrible lately and seem to play so bloody slow
Red&White Posted 31 May, 2010 Posted 31 May, 2010 seriously...I think we will be lucky to get to the 1/4 finals. we have been terrible lately and seem to play so bloody slow I agree..........hope we are proved wrong :smt105
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 May, 2010 Posted 31 May, 2010 Italy each way. England will stumble at the first team who are considered as being capable of giving them a bit of a game. Sorry Landrew, but i will eat my own boxers if Italy get anywhere near the finals. They have an ageing team and do not have any world class strikers of any note. Add to that the fact that Pirlo is the only man that makes them tick and you will see many teams man marking him. We will get to the Semi's at least
Andy_Porter Posted 31 May, 2010 Posted 31 May, 2010 No European side has ever won a WC outside of Europe. Spain might have a chance if Iniesta and Xavi pick up their form from the last Euros and the manager drops Torres, otherwise I think Brazil will be most likely.
