MarkSFC Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 Everything Cortese has done so far in regard to planning and development of the club has been exciting and/or very progressive, and in-line with the "best in class" philosophy he is working to in every aspect. No public statement in regard to season tickets so far, is a little surprising but from his point of view, probably not number one in his list. He released them in July last season and there were no issues so you can see why it may not be. As setting prices and selling tickets is probably the simplest of tasks I suspect something else is happening that affects this!! I think NC is a visionary and so I imagine the so called delay will result in excitement. Rather than a really cheap price if ticket like the mooted £125 price point (which wouldn't actually gaurantee high attendances), I reckon there maybe some sort of "125 years celebrational gift" for ST holders. Some special picture or something of both financial value and desirable. And if so this may explain why STs aren't on sale yet, as the product is being sourced and made!! I wouldn't be surprised either if the club would liketo move the "singers" to The Chapel. IMO this would create a better atmosphere, especially when the ground isn't sold out. Having the singers effectively in the middle of the home fans, rather than on the end, as they currently are, will actually encourage more singing from those that may not currently do so as it will spread! Window Cleaner Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 Someone suggested to me that, because of the comfortable financial situation at the club, they didn't feel the need to release them early as every other club does as there's no pressing need for working capital over the summer. I'd disagree, personally, particularly as Cortese claims (and everything seems to back up the claim) they're not running it out of Markus Liebherr's pocket, but as a viable self-sufficient business. Wouldn't selling season tickets twice in the same financial year throw the books out a bit and lead to prospective increased taxation?
Neil Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 As far as I can tell, Cortese has been pretty good with his decision making so far. He's been true to his word, and has done even more than expected (Staplewood etc). His only two obvious mistakes have been: 1) Setting ST prices too high last season, thus restricting the amount sold 2) Delaying the ST release now (albeit other stuff going on like Halo etc) Hopefully no. 2 will be rectified this week, and given the right pricing structure we could be looking at some great crowds next season. I really do wander about some of the comments on the "singers" on here, it's just totally clueless at times. Moving "singers" (and for a start how the hell do you define who they are?) into the chapel will just **** off people in the chapel. Also part of the reason for the noise is that it's banter with the away fans, i'm fairly sure most of those arguing in favour of a move don't sit/stand in the Northam/Itchen and don't really get the mentality behind it. Oh and before the accusations start flying it's not chavvy, has nothing to do with Yoof, and is really just about enjoying the wind up and laugh that goes with it. Most can do that during a game and not stove someone's head in outside. I'm really hoping when season tickets come out they'll not have moved away fans and we can get away from this stupid idea and just get on with supporting saints again (in whatever way/end we choose to do it). Although I would doubt that Nicola thinks he has made either of these "mistakes". to me pricing is about right and he obviously has his reasons for delaying season tickets sales . for_heaven's_Saint Posted 30 May, 2010 Share Posted 30 May, 2010 IIRC, David Luker had already drawn up the season ticket prices last season, before the takeover happened.
Amesbury Saint Posted 1 June, 2010 Share Posted 1 June, 2010 I am going for the idea the club wants to maximise STs but especially in parts of the ground that are unpopular. So Chapel / Itchen Corner becomes very cheap. Blocks 1-3 become STs + enhanced member scheme only. Enhanced member scheme - you have to buy 10 matches up front (or something similar). Also a Saturday only season ticket. Also a mid week only ST also a pre match day purchase rate and a higher match day purchase rate Introduction of Gold priced matches higher % increases on children ST tickets (if children tickets are too cheap, there is very little "penalty" for not turning up at matches) .. also link back to Saturday tickets. The reason for the delay is to wait until the fixture list is out to allow the above to be implemented ie allowing for a 20? match Saturday only ticket. Or the Bournemouth at SMS Boxing Day (or another Bank Holiday) to be a gold match. I think we are going to see a radical approach to ST and ticket sales. Plus I am expecting a very good player signing. The lack of info / publicity now is to get a real wow factor shortly. I did not get very much right
doggface Posted 1 June, 2010 Author Share Posted 1 June, 2010 I'm with you on that! Yesterday was hardly mid to end of June! However my get out of jail card is I was told by a club employee who seemed pretty sure. One thing I have learned over the years is never treat any saints related news/speculation/promises as fact until it happens, even from the horses mouth! Things do change though, but a large pinch of salt is often required.
