Weston Saint Posted 17 May, 2010 Author Posted 17 May, 2010 N Edwards c Pothas b Cork 4 5/1 3.2 overs
Minty Posted 17 May, 2010 Posted 17 May, 2010 Given our problem has mostly been (not) getting lower order batsmen out, who go on to make big scores, I'm not getting excited just yet...
Minty Posted 17 May, 2010 Posted 17 May, 2010 Well that's encouraging. Or are we about to see 24 wickets in one day, and fine for a poor pitch?!?!? Cynical? Me? About Hampshire this season? Never.
Lets B Avenue Posted 17 May, 2010 Posted 17 May, 2010 Well that's encouraging. Or are we about to see 24 wickets in one day, and fine for a poor pitch?!?!? Cynical? Me? About Hampshire this season? Never. Just take a look at our batting line up. That should calm your nerves. Jimmy Adams hasnt got a score since the opening game and a mutual friend has told me that they have changed his backlift again. After his best season last year, you would have thought they would have left well alone.

Never. Notts will get the fine/points deduction so that's one thing I'm not bothered about. Just everything else !!
Minty Posted 17 May, 2010 Posted 17 May, 2010 Oh yeah. Duh. Sorry, thought it was at home for some reason...
Weston Saint Posted 17 May, 2010 Author Posted 17 May, 2010 100-4 off 28 overs Looks like we have let them off the hook again.
Weston Saint Posted 17 May, 2010 Author Posted 17 May, 2010 Do we get some KP time now?Unlikely. Be nice if he joined us for T20 though
stevegrant Posted 17 May, 2010 Posted 17 May, 2010 100-4 off 28 overs Looks like we have let them off the hook again. Careful, you'll end up doing an impersonation of nickh at this rate...
Weston Saint Posted 17 May, 2010 Author Posted 17 May, 2010 270 all out. Good day so far. Tricky 8 or 9 overs to survive tonight
John B Posted 17 May, 2010 Posted 17 May, 2010 Well I dont think so another 29 for 4 then 270 all out 23 - 1 Dont expect to win from here
Berkshire Saint Posted 17 May, 2010 Posted 17 May, 2010 Was there today. Bowled pretty well but there was shodding fielding. Mullany was dropped three times, twice on 50 and once on 70odd, all of them off Balcombe, whose bowling was nowhere near as bad as the figures suggest.
Minty Posted 18 May, 2010 Posted 18 May, 2010 154-2 in reply so far today... Adams in the nervous nineties. A steady response.
Weston Saint Posted 18 May, 2010 Author Posted 18 May, 2010 Well done Minty, everyone stays away from posting and you come on and take a wicket. 154-3 Benham gone
Minty Posted 18 May, 2010 Posted 18 May, 2010 I'm really sorry... (168-5 now, Adams for 96, Vince for a duck)
Leicestersaint Posted 18 May, 2010 Posted 18 May, 2010 248 for 6 - and miracles - McKenzie has hit 55!
chrisobee Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 Thankfully I think Minty finally realised it was his fault all along we're doing so bady this season ! Hants 305 all out at close of play.
bungle Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 Ervine left not out, so that's 237* and now 31*. Has to be moved up the order.
chrisobee Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 Ervine left not out, so that's 237* and now 31*. Has to be moved up the order. Said that during the last game, he has batted at number 4 so why he is now at 7 I don't know other than maybe Pothas wants to take too much responsibility when being a wicketkeeper/ batsman and now captain is enough and indeed too much. I have a lot of time for Pothas but can think of very few captains who also keep wicket so I agree with Weston Saint in his "spring report" that Cork is an obvious choice if he plays or else maybe Carberry or Lumb when they return. Let Nic concentrate on his keeping in the field and nursing the tail at 7 though I know he likes to play his shots but hard to believe he should be ahead of Ervine. Anyway Notts just lost Shafayat caught and bowled by Tomlinson so 25/1.
stevegrant Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 248 for 6 - and miracles - McKenzie has hit 55! One thing I noticed from McKenzie's figures yesterday was that he scored 48 of his 55 runs from boundaries! Lazy f'ker...

Lets B Avenue Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 79-4 at Lunch. Mulvaney lbw Cork 7 in the last over.

chrisobee Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 79-4 at Lunch. Mulvaney lbw Cork 7 in the last over. Could we dare to think we're in with a chance !?
stevegrant Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 Could we dare to think we're in with a chance !? Now you've done it...

Lets B Avenue Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 184-5 Hales 102*. Guess what? His maiden 1st class ton. We truly are a bleedin charity for oppo batsmen.
Born In The 80s Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 Yet another very frustrating game! Really isn't looking good for us this year. Although funnilly enough i genuniely think we're 1 decent strike bowler away from being a very good 4 day side. Herath has been hugely disappointing for me. It's a shame because i reckon young Danny Briggs would have done just as good a job, if not better than Herath oer the last couple of games. If we'd have stuck with Briggs, and instead of Herath, added an overseas seamer with pace, i think we'd have had a couple of championship wins this season. Our bowling line up really lacks penetration and that is costing us when we need to knock over the tail quickly.
Berkshire Saint Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 Played against Alex Hales in a club 20 over match in 2006. Needless to say, he smashed us about. Think we'll probably lose this one...
Lets B Avenue Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 315 all out. 281 to win and 2 overs left tonight.
krissyboy31 Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 315 all out. 281 to win and 2 overs left tonight. I'm not holding up much hope TBH! Another 50/60 run defeat IMO!
Leicestersaint Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 It doesn't look promising but if someone makes a ton....

Hindsight of course is a great thing but once we thought Tahir was not available surely a quick bowler was the best option, at least for the 1st half of the season. But then to replace Mendes with another spin bowler was definitely a mistake and one compounded by the fact he doesn't appear anything special. When Weston Saint compares him to Raj Maru ( a decent county player but no more) then I'm not inspired !! Oh to have someone even half as good as Andy Roberts ( somewhat ironic he rather controversially replaced a very good spin bowler in David O'Sullivan the year after we won the CC in 1973!) or Malcolm Marshall. keithd Posted 20 May, 2010 Posted 20 May, 2010 138 more to win, 6 wickets remaining. gonna be sqeaky bottom time.... Ervin in ahead of Pothas
Weston Saint Posted 20 May, 2010 Author Posted 20 May, 2010 103 to win in 32 overs minimum with 6 wickets in hand but only 14 overs to the new ball. Three results still possible. Hants slightly favourite but another wicket loss will change all that!
keithd Posted 20 May, 2010 Posted 20 May, 2010 ervine gone LBW straight after tea. Another defeat looms large on the horizon.....
