Disappointed that Michael Poke has been released. Saints have stuck with him for several years and he has now gained valuable league experience elsewhere. Frankly he is a better prospect than Bart and certainly than Forecast, but I guess that with Forecast still under contact for another 3 years retaining 5 keepers was not an option. Poke is proving to be a very very good keeper even when playing in a mediocre side. Just hope Torquay have the resources to offer him a full time contract..

Maybe we did offer him a contract, but he didn't fancy sitting around playing second/third fiddle?

after a couple of seasons of first-team football, Poke is probably looking for that rather than just being on the bench here.

Not really surprised by most of that list, looks like a clearing of the decks for 4/5 really good replacements. Only surprise as expressed above is we didn't keep at least 1 of Thomas, Semi or James as cover at right back, as it seems we have Calderon almost tied up. Hope that a deal to bring Antonio back can be sorted out. And I hope we can get Bart to re-sign for us.

As for the rest thanks for your effort, and all the best for the future.

Busy few weeks for AP & NC coming up.

For those expecting Poolis to get released in August, I should point out that all football contracts of at least one year run from July 1st.

Interesting to see Lloyd James' deal last summer was an extension. Not really surprised at any of them, either old players, young players who never proved themselves (sometimes as they didn't have a chance) or players Pardew just didn't rate.

I will be shocked if 3 or 4 of them don't end up at Bournemouth, maybe Perry and most likely Murty.

Very pleased at Bart and Ryan Doble getting new deals.

I don't understand why people want/think Lee Holmes should be let go, he's had a hard season in terms of injuries but when he came into the team for a few games he was our best player and AP spoke very highly of him.

If he can stay fit he could be our surprise package next year imo

Very glad to see the back of James. Surprised to see all four RB options leaving though (James, Semi, Thomas and Murty), although I expect Murty may have a backroom role at some point. Slightly disappointed to see Kayne Mclaggon off as I thought with his pace we might have something for the future there.

I would imagine the likes of Pulis, Molyneux, Forecast and maybe Wotton are still in contract.

Wowsers. No real suprising names there, except Lloydy. Shows you how far we came from early on the season, because he was the only guy who could cross the ball!

We'll miss Thomas & Perry's experience, but I think we all knew they were offski anyway.

Gutted for Murty too - A fit Murty would've been quality for us.

So that's 4 players out who can play at Right-back!! - Methinks we'll need more than Calderon!

Wonder how much we've trimmed off the wage bill with that lot? If I put my FM head on, then i'd say it's around 30k p/week which I reckon free's up wages for 3 or 4 top players at this level.

Most disappointed to see Thomas go. Loved his commitment and no nonsense defending althought if I am brutally honnest, we can find better, younger players. Only other player I'd have kept from that list is Semi, but clearly AP has a decent RB lined up, given that he's released all 2.5 of our current options.

Overall very happy to see so much dead wood leave, with the prospect of more to go as soon as we can offload Holmes, Pulis, Molly, Forecast and possibly Wotton.

Delighted to see Bart gets a new deal too. :D

Thomas was on huge wages. The club has 4 centre backs now - Fonte, Jaidi, Martin and Seaborne. No need to keep Thomas when he is taking up wages that could be better used elsewhere.

Calderon is about to sign, so no need to keep Otsemobor on the bench on high wages and not getting a game.

Nothing to stop us offering lower wages. Supposing Thomas was on £10k a week and his only offers for next season were £2kpw. If we offered him £3kpw he would stay.

But if Pardew rates Fonte, Seaborne, Jaidi and Martin as above Thomas in the pecking order there is little point even offering him £2k p/w to be 5th choice. May as well use that money from the budget to improve other areas such as central midfield and right back.

Thommo will find a new club without any problems. (I just hope they sign him up on a pay-as-you-play deal)

He is not a right back. He is a centre back that has been played out of position as a right back. He is not good enough at centre back and is even worse at right back and offers no attacking threat from that position which is what Pardew wants.

I'm very surprised Lloyd James has been released

Pardew was very keen to praise his contribution earlier in the season

but his drop in form since xmas has been dramatic to say the least, and before that he'd only been half decent anyway.

His substitute performance against Oldham summed it all up and made AP's mind up imo.

When does Tommy Forecast's Anthony Pulis and Lee Molyneux contracts run out? Does anyone know? Otherwise the list is pretty much what I would have thought it would be. Its a shame to see Thomas go, but I guess he was on high wages still?

The only one I am gutted and suprised about is Kayne. I thought he looked really exciting when he played.

A little gutted about Thomas as well, but that's thinking with my heart rather than my head, I agree we have enough CB cover and can get better RB's.

Forecast has 3 years, Pulis runs out later this summer and I think Molly has 1 more year.

I have it on good authority that Pardew was extremely unhappy about a number of 'incidents' involving Lloydy. One of them was involving a 'lady of the night' in Wales, but was hushed up by the club. Another was a boozy fracas, also in Wales that got back to Pardew but never made the papers. This was just prior to the JPT Final and explains his lack of appearance in the game at all. From then on, his cards were marked.

James is an average L1 player at best. Glad he has gone.

Shame about Murty, who looked like a very good signing at the beginning of last season, marshalled the defence well but sadly injury wrecked any hopes of an extension.

Agree with the rest of the releases though, if a 19/20/21yr old nipper isn't even getting near the first team squad then they obviously aren't up to it, and rightly released.

Interesting to see who is now incoming. Few decent free's perhaps

Thanks, I guess we are stuck with Forecast and Molyneux then, unless they pay off their contracts. Unless of course Pardew rates them. I would imagine Pulis will leave in the summer then? With 7 potential first team players gone its going to be exciting to see who we bring in to replace them.

Kenwyne Jones?

Anyway, only really surprised at McLaggon going, I thought he had a bright future ahead of him.

However Pards knows more than us, and Ryan Doble must be an interesting prospect.

Only upset by McLaggon thought he was a prospect. One thing that does stand out is that we've lost all our pace without Papa, Antonio, semi and McLaggon. We are surely going to have to invest in some pacey widemen/wingers/strikers?

dont forget cental mid?

Lloyd James has gone. What a fantastic day this has just become. A special thanks to Chris Perry who has given some great service over the last few years.

Looks like AP will be a busy man

You ghastly Nerd! What have you got against Lloyd James, he was one of the very few people who really tried to keep us up last year.

Big Loss, BIG mistake! Whose mistake we'll never know.

Surprised that Lloyd James has gone, mainly because of Pardew's praise that he was becoming a 'cracking little player' just before Xmas. Personally though I've never rated him.

Here's to an active and productive transfer window!

I think we will be more busy in the transfer market than people think with 6/7 players probably added to our squad.

2 right backs,a central defender,2 midfielders,1/2 wingers and 1/2 strikers. If Bart doesn't sign another goalkeeper. So could be upto 10 additions!!Think we will sign a few promising youngsters who don't expect first action straight away.

Happy with who we have released because I think better will be available than all of them with the amount of players being released this summer. Also plenty of teams are desperate for cash so we could be able to pick up good players and cut prices.

Will be a very interesting summer

Lallana and Puncheon will be first choice out wide again next season. Both are hardly slow!

I also wouldn't rule out a return for Antonio (less chance with Papa Waigo).

you kidding my mum could out run Lallana. Much as I like Adam he doesn't have raw pace. Puncheons quicker but he just runs into dead ends a lot. We need some proper pace like Antonio that just skin backs.

Can't pass, can't cross, can't defend, can't tackle, slow, slow, slow, slow.

He's an awful footballer and quite rightly AP has seen sense and got rid.

Every player was trying to keep us up last year so i fail to see your point. The only player whose committment you could doubt last year was McGoldrick.

Good luck to all the players that have been released
