trousers Posted 18 May, 2010 Posted 18 May, 2010 what a moron. think you are missing the point of a season ticket mate, in theory with your suggestions someone could get one and just do a couple of games. if you are only going to miss 3-4 games, get a season ticket, more than that then pay your way each game. i know people who cant make mid-week but still get season tickets and give them to mates/colleagues to go in their place. A half-way-house 'pay-as-you-go' entry pass would be a good idea though (IMHO) It would work a bit like an Oyster card for London Transport. So, you buy a pre-loaded card with a number of games on it, with a reducing cost scale the more games you 'load up' in advance. This would be ideal for me. I can only get to c.10 games per season so a season ticket and pay-per-match are equally cost ineffective. It's a win-win for the club. They would get up front payments for a number of games from more people (money in the bank) and they would open up a large 'gift voucher' type market. Just think how many people would be happy to buy an advance purchase card as a birthday present (etc) for family and friends where a £300+ season ticket as a gift would be out of most people's budget range.

How many people would buy one of these? If it is a sizeable number it would only really work for L1, and only then if the match isn't going to be a close to capacity crowd. It isn't workable.

Wel it isn't it it, because they'd only know during the game that you weren't there and that seat is one they could have sold to someone else. So they lose that revenue then have to refund you at the end of the season for games you didn't go to. The money in the bank is not real money as they wont know until the end of the season how much they have, what if 5k people buy one and then all only go to one game? Then there is the cost of the cards, managing it, they'd need electronic turnstiles as you couldn't rely on the turnstile staff to keep a record of "half way house" season ticket holders coming and going. It'd be a nightmare for the club. Why not just buy a ticket for games you can go to and not buy on for games you cant?
benjii Posted 18 May, 2010 Posted 18 May, 2010 I don't think Trousers is talking about a system where you get a refund. You pay the money for a set number of games and that's it. If you don't go to enough games then you don't get your money back. You just have flexibility around how many games and when. That said, it is a rubbish idea. Any idea which means that SFC has no clue how many people are going to turn up for the match with tickets that could be redeemed at any time (ie they have no idea idea how many tickets have actually been sold "for" that match) is a rubbish idea. It is so obviously a rubbish idea that I can't believe any people still think it's a good idea.
Saint_John Posted 19 May, 2010 Posted 19 May, 2010 I see Compass have got the boot (from todays Echo). http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/business/southampton/8173207.Compass_sidelined_as_the_Saints_caterer/ Trust the Echo to remind everyone of the Dark Lord's quote “Our match-day and nonmatch- day catering is the envy of other clubs,” he wrote in his programme notes for the game against Manchester United that confirmed Saints’ relegation to the Championship..."
