I'm a liberal supporter but it would have been suicide to join labour. Sounds like we'll get a lot of our policies on the statute book and hopefully the lib dems in the cabinet will be a controlling force over excessive spending cuts. We all know we need cuts but they will need to be combined with huge reform to ensure the quality of our public services continues to improve. The inheritance tax was only going to be upped later in the term, so there is plenty of time. In your lifetime a large majority houses will fall into the category that this will help, not everyone who lives in £1m houses are wealthy I dont think it is selling their souls by not pushing for the married allowance especially if they replace it with the tax threshold up to 10k, that helps all working people and makes it more paletable to find work instead of claiming. Better than crucifying their own with the 10p tax rate Lol

Better than crucifying their own with the 10p tax rate Lol What! Even those 'living in sin'? The whole point of their married tax allowance proposal was to try to force people into marriage. As far as IHT is concerned, most estates actually have a threshold of £600K odd as one partner's allowance passes to the widowed partner anyway. As Mr Pratchett put it; "Honest men start bowing and bobbing just because someone's grandad was a bigger murdering bastard than theirs was."
