Saint in Paradise Posted 11 May, 2010 Share Posted 11 May, 2010 An emergency public meeting has been called by the Merry Oak Residents’ Association after a rise in problems during the last two weeks. They include instances where groups of youths have blocked off parts of roads with fencing from a nearby pub, intimidation and stone throwing. Mum of four Cherie Collins, 38, of Magnolia Road, chairman of the group, said: "The victims of these gangs have no faith in the police system anymore and we have decided to take a stand to get the police to listen to us. "It's just terrible living here and nobody seems to want to help us.” Another resident on the Merry Oak estate, who didn't want to be named, described how youths barricaded Spring Road on April 14 before stoning her house at 11.30pm. She said: “I could see a gang of kids watching in the distance as I drove along Merryoak Road and saw the barriers blocking the road. So these yobs block, from my memory, a major public road and the police do nothing ?????:shock::shock: All I can say is Thank Goodness I am an expat and don't live near there anymore. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8157403.Residents_launch_fightback_against_antisocial_gangs/
Hatch Posted 11 May, 2010 Share Posted 11 May, 2010 So these yobs block, from my memory, a major public road and the police do nothing ?????:shock::shock: They are not yobs, they are victims, the Government says so. The house owner shouldn't have flaunted her wealth by having things like, curtains and unbroken windows. I bet she even taunted them by having her lights on, the b!tch. Robsk II Posted 11 May, 2010 Share Posted 11 May, 2010 The victims of these gangs are often parents who haven't bothered to bring their own kids up properly either, or had no choice but to live in a certain area because they couldn't be bothered to work. Boo hoo.

tpbury Posted 12 May, 2010 Share Posted 12 May, 2010 I wasn't being entirely serious. Robsk II has always been the ,slightly reluctant, voice of the silent wishy washy tree hugging liberal minority on here.

saint boggy Posted 12 May, 2010 Share Posted 12 May, 2010 And I ask you this one question "WHERE ARE THEIR PARENTS?" tbf,did you take your parents along with you while you hung out with your mates as a teenager????? it has nothing to do with WHERE their parents are, it has to do with HOW well their parents raised them (or didn't, as the case may be) and the fact that these yobs have NO sense of morality (or responsibility) instilled in them......... StuRomseySaint Posted 12 May, 2010 Share Posted 12 May, 2010 Me and Denzil always used to block off Botley Road on the way back from the pub. We also performed the 'rope trick' on cars, to much hilarity.

If so the only times I ever remember Botley Road being blocked off are when the horses escape, unless you mean before 1983 or I just naturally missed it.
