Born In The 80s Posted 10 May, 2010 Share Posted 10 May, 2010 Get Pietersen in. He's back home doing sweet sod all, just hanging around. When is Lumb due back? Must be next week...and Dimi? He fit yet? Lumb will be back when the Twenty20 cup is over. Hopefully this time next week he'll be back with us. I doubt KP will play for us at all this season, but we could certainly do with his runs. As for Dimi, i bumped into him last week and apparently he's still a way off being fit. Don't expect to see him back before June.
REDARMY79 Posted 10 May, 2010 Share Posted 10 May, 2010 As a side, do you know if you can still walk in free after a certain time at the Rose Bowl? Used to just turn up after about half 3 and no one would be on gates. That was a few years ago now though.

Ervine is a very good player though at times his bowling is erratic and he was over bowled more than once last season. That said he really should be ahead of Nic in the batting and is an excellent fielder as well.

Nic hasn't had the best start to the season but alongside Carbs is our best and most consistent batsman.

Nic hasn't had the best start to the season but alongside Carbs is our best and most consistent batsman. arent you contradicting yourself there? i'd put ervine ahead of pothas and therefore take the pressure off pothas to score as heavily as we need him to at the moment. chrisobee Posted 11 May, 2010 Share Posted 11 May, 2010 Why? Nic hasn't had the best start to the season but alongside Carbs is our best and most consistent batsman. Ervine may not be consistent but is an excellent batsman and invariably has batted higher in the order, 4/5, in the past. I prefer Pothas at 7 as he is indeed more consistent and likely to be able to nurse the later batsman and keep the strike better than Ervine. I've said many times that Pothas is vital to our side for the depth he adds to the batting but so does Evine. Anyway now 345/8, Ervine on 120, Tomlinson on 2. Lets B Avenue Posted 11 May, 2010 Share Posted 11 May, 2010 Just back from Rose Bowl. Ervine's immense knock was special in that from the time the 8th wicket went down, Somerset had every one on the boundary and he turned loads of runs down. He just kept hitting at least one boundary each over. I thought that was a bit hard on Tommo when he had just got a career best, but it worked. Once slug got to 200 he just teed off against their opening bowlers. Brilliant! P.S Trescothick out lbw Griffiths 41. 60-

Well I clearly remember Greenidge and Richards putting on an unbeaten 200+ in a one day match in the 70's when both carrying injuries as we cruised to a win by 10 wickets ( v Gloucs or Notts maybe?). Both made centuries, MOTM went to GG I think as his injury was the worst !!
