Next time I see Mr Merrington I will try very hard to apologise:smt047

Strange response. Presumably you have a problem with Merrington? Apologise if you wish, but he wasn't the culprit in "solentgate" it was Blackmore...

is it fact..?

I thought flights were cancelled to/from switzerland. I'm sure there was a link somewhere on here to it but can't remember where amongst all the rumour threads currently on this forum!!

It could, of course, be that ML was not happy because something stopped him being able to attend the last match of the season.

Oh, and he is only a multi-billionaire businessman, he earnt his fortune working Monday to Friday 9-5

But they were not closed on Friday when I would have thought ML may have travelled

But there was uncertainty about if they'd need to close over the rest of the weekend or not and Markus may have thought he'd get stuck in the UK unable to get back. So instead decided not to risk it.

right..did he tell you this..

Just maybe he was informed the return would have been in doubt and he had business to deal with this weekend...

What do I know...As I was led to believe he was not fit to travel due to illness.

As others have stated it has too be a very good reason for him not to be at St Marys to personally thank Alan Pardew, staff and squad for a truly great season..

I would seriously discount Solent and the Echo newspaper on this matter and to be honest they both seem to want to cause Saints a little bit of trouble betty.

Of course that is a possibility but the reason he did not come was that he had an alternative appointment,

Anyone with common sense and access to the news would do the same.

Over the last few days they have said flight restrictions will possibly be coming back in very soon. Yes, he could have flown to England on Friday. However he would be aware that he may not have been able to get a flight back on Saturday night or Sunday and thus he'd be stuck in the UK when he possibly had things to do back in Switzerland.

Yep, our multi-billionaire businessman owner knocks off early on a Friday.

He flies in Saturday morning and goes back the same day.

He is only allowed 90 days in the UK so most of the time this is what he does.

And yes, this is a FACT

lets be honest..MARK HUGHES lolololol no ******* chance

this is all pie in the sky and pardew has to stay..will take my WUM hat off and say that

pardew is bloody great for us and IF they chose to move him on, they better have a bloody good manager ready to take over within a week..

I find it hard to believe you have any idea of ML's travel arrangements

The bad news was that ML missed the last match of course he would be unhappy after all he has put into the Club. The good news is that at last we have a manager that we want to keep, protect and appreciate. What a great season, let the rumour guys swallow their tongues and then use their brains.

I see that you have over 5,000 posts on here, so surely you know that putting "FACT" in a post makes it absolutely a cast-iron, nailed-on truth.:)

That's a FACT for sure :D

In full solidarity with FF, I wish to formally state that I was not at the match and I was not Happy yesterday.

In fact due to unforseen circumstances I was very Grumpy yesterday and certainly Dozy

I have to be honest, it seems the right thing. After all on Thursday the 6th May a collegue and I attended and award function for a job, and shared an award,(A Silver)which was nice. But as our Associated Director, the rotter, wanted us to win a gold, he didn't come.

He stayed away to show us that he was upset.

'Hey, ' I said to my Collegue, ' Old Shadwell aint come because he's upset with us not winning the gold award, just a poxy silver!!!!'

'You silly runt,' said my collegue, 'Who do you think that is over there, cheering and clapping like a whirling durvish.'

'Yeh, but the MD hasn't come, has he?' I said in reproach.

'I'm sure he would have loved to come if he hadn't been stuck in friggin Scotland looking at that Flood defence jobbie in Paisley. Why, his ticket went to someone else'.

'Oh,' said I.'There seems to be a country mile behind the truth and perception.'

Sorry to ramble on, but I cannot see Marcus not coming because we never made the play-offs after the way he bahaved at the JPT. Imagine the praise he would have got if HE had walked around the pitch. TBH I think it is just mindless junk throwned into the mix by speculative journos who like a bit of scandal and, as we know, their mantra is that if there isn't any scandal, invent some.

And may I apologise in advance, but if Marcus DID do a walk around the pitch,or if he ever does in the future, there isn't a steward or officer of the law that would have stopped me from running onto the pitch and giving Marcus and big, slobbery wet kiss right on his forehead. There isn't a court in this country that would convict me, (Just like the management of Pompey).

I fully expect a statement from the man himself this week about his first season as our owner.

Dont hold your breath waiting then.

NC said in that Solent interview he did a few weeks back that ML simply comes to games as a fan and leaves NC and his team to get on with it.

If you do get a statement on the first season it will be from NC, not ML.
