I thought Francis was sh*te.

was easily their best player today and kept lallana quiet for most of the game.

Very impressed but hopefully Calderon will be even better as he is more of a marauding full back - we haven't had one of those since Bale - although Dan has his moments.

Don't know what game you were watching, Lallana ran the game!

not a bandwagon..just an observation

name 5 games where he was good..

he simply was sh1t with the odd decent game

He certainly wasn't ****, he was class but his legs had gone. He would have been immense had we had a half decent box to box player alongside him (ie NOT viafara), but he was a luxury player and we were often left exposed because we didn't have someone good enough to cover for his weaknesses.

I probably couldn't name 5 games where he was amazing but I reckon you'd struggle to name 5 games where he was '****' (if you were being honest that is).

He was injured a lot but was not sh*t! Agreed, he didn't the best of runs with us cos of injury but was not sh*te, as you suggest. Still, if you wanna sit behind your screen & pick fights you can do so with your reflection. I'm not listing games, I struggle to remember who we played last week, but you obviously remember Bristol when he certainly wasn't the worst on the pitch so odd analogy singling out a player when the entire team were gash. You're wrong but it wouldn't be the first time. You see what you wanna see.

Back on topic, Brighton must be mighty peed off but nice to see Saints getting first pickings! Makes a rare change.

Agreed. The hunger was there but his body was failing, namely groin & hamstring from what I remember. I'd not bother arguing. Futile with some on here & wasted energy.

Even if he is only half as good as Ivan Golac he'll be a great signing !

The ultimate right back.None since have been better or anywhere near to him in my book.

The ultimate right back was Bill Ellerington in his day (I think he is still at most matches) closely followed by Alf Ramsey, if this guy half amtches either of those two we'll he ok, roll on next season!

Not sure we can officially until June 1st.

Think we can if he is not signed to another club, which would apply as he has turned down a contract at Brighton and the season is now over.

Especially in this manner. It seems reminiscent of Berkovic having used us as a shop window to display his talents then p!ss off at the end of the season for a bigger payday.

Same situation with Stern John at the start of this season

I think he's on a short term contract with them which expires at the end of the season (I.e 31st May).

I did qualify it and neither of those mentioned below are after Ivan Golac.

Not even the mighty Joe Kirkup?

I remember Kirkup in the first Saints line up I saw.He was probably coming to the end of his time with us (1969/70).I was not particularly impressed but none too discerning in those days,as a kid only the goalscorers of Channon,Big Ron,and Paine stood out.(Occasionally John McGrath and Gabriel for their thumping tackles, but that was it.)

Sorry,I am a mere whippersnapper and only in my late 40's so no recollection of either.

Brighton fans won't know who to boo first or most next season! Calderon, Harding (who got it big time at SMS from them), Hammond or Pardew. What a selection! Could be tasty at SMS when they come to SMS. We owe them one for that 3-1 defeat and we can't play that badly again. Oh, Fonte is ex-Palace as well, make it 5 for them to boo and abuse!

A couple of youtube videos of Inigo playing for Brighton:

Looks like he'd do well alongside Fonte, very cultured. Thanks for the videos, I searched yesterday but there wasn't really anything up there apart from some shoddy mobile phone footage...

It is a free, signed for Brighton, his contract ha run out and failed to agree a new contract.

that's the best type of signing...no-one can say we've got miilions to spend when you can pick up OOC players for nothing.

Don't shoot the messenger but just heard from a Brighton supporting mate that we've signed their right back calderon. He told me it's been confirmed by gus poyet.

can't help thinking he looks... more than a little... like ....Alexander Östlund.

(now retired and coaching one of the Stockholm clubs.)

I expect Pards to be manager after this meeting. This meeting should clear the air and I am sure all sides will see the importance of consistency with Pards at the helm.

Nice to see a Boardroom with ambition for a change, even if it does create some pre-season friction.
