Yeah, cos Idiakez was reall crap wasn't he?! Idiot!!

Are you for real? You are certainly the only person I have heard who has implied Idiakez was decent for us. One of the worst players we have had since relegation in 2003. Totally pedestrian and people slag off Wotten!

He was crap, but nothing like Wotton crap. Idiakez could at least pass to his own team

my mate is gutted that we have signed him says he's a really flair attacking right back - they are also worried about losing poyet to us

I thought Wotton played well today when he came on

Seagull fans are only mentioning Poyet cos they've caught onto that "nothing" rumour about Pards.

Old news followed by 2+2=5.....

Odd how many times Poyet manages to say 'Southampton' in one statement, sounds quite bitter, and possibly an attempt to scupper the deal by making our transfer dealings public?

Quite possible they are hoping that by releasing the news early NC will pull out early like the Elliot Ward/SSN incident

poyet

I want to thank Calde because he helped us a lot.

"Unfortunately I'm very disappointed because he has chosen to wait for an offer from Southampton and not to sign for us with everything agreed.

"The disappointment is big. Everything was agreed.

"It was only the contract to sign but he decided to wait for a possible offer from another club in this division.

"The club is Southampton, who we cannot compete with.

"We clarified a few weeks ago that if somebody thinks we are the Chelsea or Manchester City in the division, we are not. That is Southampton.

"If they are going to buy the players and pay more than the rest there is nothing we can do about it.

"We have withdrawn the offer.

"We don't accept players agreeing contracts and not signing.

"We are a proper club and he had until midnight yesterday but the offer is gone and he is not going to be our player.

"I can promise you that.

Spoken to a couple of Brighton supporting mates.

They are gutted that we're on the verge of signing Inigo. Their 'best player' according to the Seagulls' fans that I've spoken with.

Surely this signals that Pardew's future is very much with Southampton too!?

Would love a statement from the club to clarify the situation.

I live in Brighton and all my mates are Brighton fans. Priceless.

What's priceless is that you only have Brighton supporting mates and your username is Bender. :D

um-

For what it's worth, was in the pub with a relatively junior employee of the club after the game just after the news broke, and he phoned a more senior employee of the club for confirmation. So the deal must have been a fairly closely guarded secret. Seems that the whole 'hip injury' thing was a smokescreen designed to put Southampton off the trail. But they didn't fall for it. Reckon the player was ill-advised to join in the lap of honour - and the news broke literally about two minutes after the lap had safely cleared H Block where the player was enthusiastically shaking hands with fans. Cynical or what?

Good luck to the boy, bear him no ill-will whatsoever.

But the club could have handled it better.

Now that is priceless. That truely made me laugh out loud, alot.

apparently Bennett is "quality" and we are also watching Ashley Barnes closely.....?

Ashley Barnes would be great backup for Lambert but I think Plymouth may want him back now they are relegated.

Wowzah!!!!!!, I was only saying today to someone who sits near me, get rid of semi and bring in someone at RB in the same mould as Dan Harding..........this managing lark is a piece of ****.

I thought he was good for us, his link up play was exellent. Just because you don't run around like a headless chicken for 90 mins doesn't mean you're useless.

lol @ them calling us scummers.

Indeed.I'd rather be a "scummer" than a bummer.

The fact they are so bitter must indicate a good player -potentially- on his way.

Southampton's turnover is always going to be much higher than ours but I didn't think they were out of the financial MIRE just yet.

At least we have stability.

Hope he bankrupts them

Little do they know!

''Over the years i've been supporting the Albion there's been a few special players that just make you smile when they've got the ball and do something special, but Calderon tops them all. Absolutely love watching him play football, i think he's the most exciting player i've seen in the Stripes, so composed on and off the ball, plenty of flair, watching his performances he loves playing with the ball to feet and just does it all with consummate ease. The goal against Charlton was just superb. Honestly hope he's still here for a few years to come.''

good stuff

Pretty unprofessional of Poyet to come out and mention Saints by name in that article IMO. I know he is probably upset that Calderon has rejected their terms but he should have said that, and that Calderon want to listen to other "offers" and left it at that!

Agreed,it definitely smacks of Poyet throwing his teddy out of the pram.

Agreed, Best I have seen him play this season given a slightly different role? I thought he did really well

Delighted by the sounds of this. Hope he can live up to the praise he has received.

I do feel sorry for Brighton though, always sucks losing one of your better players.

You are on form Saint Clark you made me LOL again

It's fantastic that we're now in a position to sign players and pay their wages at the start of the close season. This gives us the pick of the crop where before we've always had to wait and sign players late on when the best have been snapped up.:)

Especially in this manner. It seems reminiscent of Berkovic having used us as a shop window to display his talents then p!ss off at the end of the season for a bigger payday.
