chrisobee Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 mine says, in AP column, he writes that NC is a **** and he can shove his job up his ..... Mine doesn't :smt102
saint_stevo Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 mine says- If you want to pay back your ex, cut her face, then no-one will want her I think they mean Lowe? :smt102
Kingsland Nick Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 If the problem was with the printers, surely there would be an apology on the OS by now.
Red&White Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Maybe it was announcing our merger with Portsmouth. Christ mate nearly choked on my bacon sarnie !
Saint_clark Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Bloke in the megastore said the printers messed up. Non-story.
Ken Tone Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Everyone would surely have been more prepared to accept the 'production issue' explanation if a) they'd said something about it over the loudspeakers at the game b) the OS said something about it now c) there is no truth in the rumour that some were sold in the club shop before 10.30 ... a rumour which Solent repeated. And btw why the hell didn't the announcer tell us the southend team at the kick off? K.
Saint_clark Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 The announcer never says the opponents team at kick-off, only pre-match.
Ken Tone Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 The announcer never says the opponents team at kick-off, only pre-match. I know , but the point is that also never do we have no programmes! All I knew all game was that ww were playing a team in yellow with Paterson and a huge freak centre half in it. K.
Saint_clark Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Well he said the team with about half an hour to kick-off. Southend team, that is.
revolution saint Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Well I'm not ITK in any way unless you count speaking to a few corporate hospitality staff but the feeling I got is AP won't be here next season. Shame really but it does tie in with the club not commenting on AP's future. I could be wrong and I hope I am but I wouldn't bet on AP being here next season.
Saint_clark Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 So basically, Pardew made some comments that Cortese took great offence to, as a result the programmes were pulled and Pardew will now be sacked?
saint lard Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Well, there was me looking forward to a pretty positive and uneventfull, barring a couple of transfers, pre season and all that goes with it. It seems years since we had a turmoil free summer.
Strangely Brown Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Well I'm not ITK in any way unless you count speaking to a few corporate hospitality staff but the feeling I got is AP won't be here next season. Shame really but it does tie in with the club not commenting on AP's future. I could be wrong and I hope I am but I wouldn't bet on AP being here next season. Well given the progress we have made during this season it makes no sense to sack AP unless you can replace him with someone better, so hang on to your hats we must be getting.................erm...........mmmm Mourinho!!!!:smt043
Saint_clark Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 If they were on sale before 10.30 there must be SOMEONE who bought one?
lordswoodsaints Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Nine got sold before they got pulled, they tried to buy them back but the fans said no.So if your one of the nine you must have the answer... There was a kid sat near me who had one.
Tractor_Saint Posted 8 May, 2010 Author Posted 8 May, 2010 It's programme NOT program. Look mate, when you're on an HTC phone in the rain at St Mary's, it's spelt whichever way the T9 decides it's spelt OK? (I know it's programme, cringe every time I see the title - admin, can you change it ? )
dune Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 So basically, Pardew made some comments that Cortese took great offence to, as a result the programmes were pulled and Pardew will now be sacked? Putting aside how well AP did in certain parts of the season he has made several digs that were clearly aimed at Nicola Cortese. Nicola is clearly a cvnt, and I mean this in the nicest possible way, because to get where he has at his age you've got be, so he's not going to sit idly by and let someone undermine his authority. I think AP was finnished at Saints a few months ago to be honest and that NC was waiting for the close season and will now act fast. If he keeps AP on it'll be his first mistake IMO as once a hierarchical relationship flips like it has you can only paper over the cracks for so long in which case it'd be better to face up to reality and deal with it now.
dune Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Look mate, when you're on an HTC phone in the rain at St Mary's, it's spelt whichever way the T9 decides it's spelt OK? (I know it's programme, cringe every time I see the title - admin, can you change it ? ) No problem, i just have an obsessive dislike of Americans and their ism's.
wild-saint Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 I didnt think rickie seemed to pleased when he scored his goals today and the lap of appeciation round the pitch was a little subdued, anything in that ? maybe the players know whats going on and arent happy? or am i looking for something that not there
Rebel Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 I just spoke to a friend who works at the printers - as far as he know they printed 5000 programmes on Friday and there was nothing wrong with them he also said he read AP's notes - or whatever its called - and he doesn't think it said anything bad - other than disappointed not to make the play-off - and stuff about building for next season there could be a commercial reason - and advertiser or sponsor asking for it to be pulled because of something wrong with an ad - its happened to magazines before - and I worked somewhere a long time ago where 50,000 + brochures were dumped because somebody's name had been mis-spelt as a rude word!
vicky Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 There were definitely programmes sold as my friend bought two so the publishing problems explanation just doesn't wash. Picture of Barnard on the front apparently. I didn't get a look as she felt self conscious about getting them out of her bag, but said she had read the managers column and there didn't appear to be anything amiss. There must be something in there they don't want us to read.
the colonel Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Perhaps there was something in the progamme about Inigo Calderon going to sign before it being finalised with Brighton and/or the player?!?!
Tractor_Saint Posted 8 May, 2010 Author Posted 8 May, 2010 My brother works at the printers. There was a **** up with the order and they didn't get done. NC was mega ****ed apparently. I just spoke to a friend who works at the printers - as far as he know they printed 5000 programmes on Friday and there was nothing wrong with them! There were definitely programmes sold as my friend bought two so the publishing problems explanation just doesn't wash. Alain - appears you or your brother was lying. Thanks for your input though.
markr27 Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Maybe it said Saints vs Tranmere on the front/back? Well, that could be why the guy in PA land blurted out that Tranmere had just made its first substitution on 87 mins?
eelpie Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Was listening to Solent prior to match and Adam Blackmore stated quite categorically that he had spoken to a good source at SMS who is close to ML (presumably Cortese) and was told that ML would not be attending as he was unhappy with the progress made this season and Blackmore assumed that meetings would occur probably next week to resolve matters, with the inference that AP may be on shaky ground. DM agreed with him that it looked like matters may be coming to a head shortly. Interesting times... Marcus was sitting in his usual place near Cortese - or his double was. And he looked real chuffed when the players were going round the pitch after the match.
ottery st mary Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Programmes delivered to the ground.....Anyone want to buy 5,000 unused programmes?
Plumstead_Saint Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Marcus was sitting in his usual place near Cortese - or his double was. And he looked real chuffed when the players were going round the pitch after the match. Thanks for the info mate. Getting heartily sick of the 'rumours' that malicious kn*bheads and journalists keep spreading.
CWD Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Marcus was sitting in his usual place near Cortese - or his double was. And he looked real chuffed when the players were going round the pitch after the match. Lol @ this thread so ML was there but he wasnt there. we sold programmes but we didnt. AP is leaving but he isnt. excse me if i ignore this whole thread - its bollix
Tractor_Saint Posted 8 May, 2010 Author Posted 8 May, 2010 Lol @ this thread OP was an honest question just before kick off
ottery st mary Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 (edited) ML , NC and Pards last seen selling Saints programmes above bar. Forgot to mention..Mark Hughes was holding the cash for them... Edited 8 May, 2010 by ottery st mary
Forester Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Lol @ this thread so ML was there but he wasnt there. we sold programmes but we didnt. AP is leaving but he isnt. excse me if i ignore this whole thread - its bollix Either you have never seen Marcus before or are fibbing. I sit very close and can assure you he was not there
Kingsland Red Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 From the Kingsland I could see that Markus was not in his usual seat. The programme seller told us the programmes were pulled due to something being announced before it happens. Someone working in the club shop advised that several programmes were sold before they were stopped and bundled up as requested by the club. All facts but not enough to suggest Pardew is leaving.
Saint_clark Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 When I first saw the signs up, I immediately thought of this; http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=22304 IMO they had planned to unveil one of the new kits and start selling them, but for some reason that had to be scrapped. Perhaps they didn't get the stock in time? Or something was wrong with the shirts? Who knows.
musesaint Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Can we all cope with a summer full of shi*te rumour threads like this???
stevegrant Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 I managed to track down a copy of the programme at half-time, read it from cover to cover and there didn't seem to be anything untoward. The suggestion of "printed on the wrong paper" is nonsense, it was as normal. The only even *slightly* potentially controversial comment in Pardew's column was when he gave credit to (paraphrasing from memory, might not be 100%) "Nicola Cortese and everyone at the club for mobilising 44,000 Saints fans to Wembley". Given that we're well aware that Cortese has a bit of an ego and likes to get as much credit as possible for anything, I guess there's the potential that he felt he deserved more credit than he was being given there, but even that theory is clutching at straws somewhat. Very strange.
Badger Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 If they were on sale before 10.30 there must be SOMEONE who bought one? If anyone has a subscription, then are the programmes not sent to them by post in advance of matchday?

Badger Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 ML , NC and Pards last seen selling Saints programmes above bar. Forgot to mention..Mark Hughes was holding the cash for them... Were you the bloke who saw Richard Branson in The Dell car park opening his boot to show Askham boxes of £50 notes bundled up in advance of a 1990's takeover that never happened?
chrisobee Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 FL shows says meeting Wednesday. WTF? Could just be a pre-arranged meeting to discuss possible signings etc; Either way I hope it ends this wretched uncertainty which could easily be ended anyway by one simple statement. To be honest I think the fans deserve better when rumours are flying around and though it's all very well saying why should NC respond to media speculation at the end of the day the fans should be the top priority, sadly that is rarely the case these days.
doubleonothing Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Well that puts my shirt unveiling theory to rest as well. How bizarre. What's the tone of Pardews notes? Your theory? Check page 1 of the thread! I came up with it! Toys + pram + p!ssed+ throw = miss = Forgot what I was on about.
VectisSaint Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Who's meeting Wednesday? The bird on the FL show said they had been informed there was a meeting on Wednesday. She did not say "to decide AP's future", but in the context of what she had just said this was clearly the inference from her comment.
sebastian firefly Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Who's meeting Wednesday? i have to see my therapist at 12 unresolved rumour issues
