Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 I've just seen that Caroline Lucas gained the Brighton Pavillion seat for the Green Party from the Tories. Good work Caroline! In an election where the Green party have been ignored in favour of the extreme right by the media, that is a bloody good show!
bridge too far Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 And you know what - if the result is really, really close (i.e Tories + Unionists = Labour + Liberals) she just might be the 'kingmaker'! Good luck to her - a highly intelligent MP-to-be.
Joensuu Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 Caroline was the only good news on an otherwise bleak night.

The Green's success was at the expense of Labour. HTH
Wes Tender Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 Caroline was the only good news on an otherwise bleak night. Oh, I don't know. Jacqui Smith and Opek whatshisname losing their seats was pretty good news too.
Joensuu Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 Oh, I don't know. Jacqui Smith and Opek whatshisname losing their seats was pretty good news too. I have to agree both were liabilities to their parties (please tell me the Ginger chipmunk in leather Blears lost hers too?) But by and large a disapointing night, I wanted yellow success, blue's to squeek a majority of 1, and abject failure by the reds. At least Caroline won.
norwaysaint Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 Odd that we hear so much about the BNP, when it now seems clear that it's the Greens who are the fringe party people should start to take seriously. Gaining a seat from a major party when the BNP don't even seem to have come close.

Gaining a seat from a major party when the BNP don't even seem to have come close. But it's Brighton for crissakes. Where else would the Greens have a snowball's chance in hell of winning?
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 7 May, 2010 Author Posted 7 May, 2010 But it's Brighton for crissakes. Where else would the Greens have a snowball's chance in hell of winning? Oh I see, because it's full of "hippies and homos" no doubt...
Mao Cap Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 Caroline was the only good news on an otherwise bleak night. The Alliance Party was pretty good news as well. A liberal, non-sectarian party in control of East Belfast - who could have imagined that even five years ago? Of course, a lot of it was Robinson's dodgy dealings and his wife ****ging that 16 year old and whatnot, but still, it's good to see.
Wes Tender Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 Oh I see, because it's full of "hippies and homos" no doubt... Ah, so you have that perception about the place too...
.comsaint Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 good luck to her and a nice looker to. Yeah. Deffo a MILF
StuRomseySaint Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 Oh I see, because it's full of "hippies and homos" no doubt... Correct.
dune Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 The greens make the Liberals look normal. I thought the people of Eastleigh were weird, but voting for the greens takes weirdness to a whole new level.
JackFrost Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 Congrats to Caroline Lucas, have never met her but she comes across as one of the friendliest and most efficient prospective MPs I've come across. I really do think what she has achieved is outstanding and I genuinely wish her all the best. (I don't say that to many MPs)
Jonnyboy Posted 7 May, 2010 Posted 7 May, 2010 The greens make the Liberals look normal. I thought the people of Eastleigh were weird, but voting for the greens takes weirdness to a whole new level. because normal = right
Smirking_Saint Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 The green party ?? I mean seriously the f*cking green party ??
saintfully Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 The green party ?? I mean seriously the f*cking green party ?? Yeah, its great isn't it. Here in Brighton we're all sitting around in a leaking daisy-chain, smoking dope in a hot-tub powered by the sun. Thanks Caroline for turning my dream into reality.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 8 May, 2010 Author Posted 8 May, 2010 The green party ?? I mean seriously the f*cking green party ?? Stranger things have happened Smirking - I think their name does them no favours however.
Minty Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 Some of the comments on this thread show quite a level of ignorance of the Green Party. You don't have to agree with their policies, but they deserve a lot more respect than they get. If people take the time to look at some of their proposals, they should realise that they speak a lot of sense about many of the problems we face, even if you don't agree with their potential solutions.
sperm_john Posted 8 May, 2010 Posted 8 May, 2010 it was a close run thing though, nearly another tory seat
