dune Posted 7 May, 2010 Share Posted 7 May, 2010 (edited) The Winchester result isn't in yet, but i'm assuming it'll stay yellow with maybe even Romsey making a trio of upper class token liberal seats. I have a theory that those in these areas are so rich that unlike most other people they can ignore the big issues like the economy and immigration and instead focus on the wind farms and solar panels and all the other things that ladies that lunch talk about. The Liberals collapsed in the North in comparison so could it be that they were not capable of paying more to be green so voting Liberal was a luxury they couldn't afford? If the Libs get hammered in the North, but do OK in the South they could be about to become a posh Southerners Party with a posh public schoolboy leader. How things change so quickly, i'm really surprised, delighted, but surprised. Edited 7 May, 2010 by dune

dune Posted 7 May, 2010 Author Share Posted 7 May, 2010 FAIL. Romsey and Winchester go blue! I've just seen that, amazing but brilliant. I'm originally from nr Winchester so am very proud that they ditched the Liberals. It was a massive massive turn up for the books, ha ha ha, bet there's some very gutted Liberals sulking on here today, but gloating is not in my style and I must try very hard not keep LOL'ing. I would be inclined to take you and your political views more seriously if you didn't treat it like a football match. It really isn't about being on a side and getting one over on anybody else, and you clearly cannot grasp that. We all live in the same country, and we all want what's best for the country regardless of how we think that should be acheived. That is what politics should be about, not about saying ha ha my side are better than your side ha ha. No doubt you will dismiss this as the ramblings of an idealistic leftie , and perhaps you would be right, but it ****es me off that people think general elections are an opportunity to 'get one over' on whatever group they don't generally agree with. Well said. I also hate all this boorish cheering when the results are announced.
nathan Posted 9 May, 2010 Share Posted 9 May, 2010 I think the one upmanship is more a Labour thing than anything else. They all seem to think that the Conservatives deliberately want to try and **** up the country and **** everyone off! Why would they? It's so much more a class thing from Labour than the other way round.
