I'm gonna have a w4nk.

Why? Brown is hated, it wouldn't be a great result for the Tories. Plus i'd probably predict a gain for the Lib's and a decrease for the Tories from the exit poll if I had to.

even if the tories get 307 seats..they would have prodcued the biggest swing for 80 years

I think the sovereignty (sp) offers the party who last held power the chance to form a government first. Don't quote me on that though.

I was about to post the same.

I believe that in the event of a hung parliament, even if they are not the largest party, Labour get the first chance to form a governement.

Anyone have a definative answer on this?

Don't try and convince yourself that if the Tories don't get a majority that it'll have been a good night for them. It would be an embarrassment on Cameron's part.

Is that right? The swing in 1997 must have been huge to go from a Tory government to a Labour landslide...

Those figures on the exit polls fly in the face of every other poll that has been conducted over the last three weeks, and indeed of general common sense. Surely there's no way the Lib Dems will lose seats today.

That is correct...if brown can get 326 MPs on his side from whatever party it doesn't matter what the Tory score is (as long as the Tories get under 326) - weird old system!!

I can sense VFTT coming on later and saying _ "i was wrong about dune, he's not thick, he's not horrible, he may have worn a nazi costume to a fancy dress but that was simply to highlight the war and the fact we must never forget. I reckon he#s gonna show his remorse and become a Tory and whenever you see him at the footy you see Dave Xam to Teanage Mutant cyber Tory emblazed accross his replica shirt.

Let's have a Saintsweb 'Exit Poll'

I'll go first if it makes some feel safe in 'coming out'. Be honest and don't shoot people down.

I would be interested to know how we all voted (or not)?

I spoilt my paper (wrote 'none of the below') and sent it in.

Mrs h won't mind me telling you all that she simply wripped hers in two and went straight round to the post box around the corner and I believe that she now holds the World record for someone voting in an election. Is thaat an actual record I wonder?

I'm married to a ****ing world champion! Bloody hell!

Breach of Rule 2, but then again you could cite Rule 1 in your defence, so I'll let it go this time.

I AM proud, I defend my right to vote however I so wish and I would defend YOUR right to do the same with my life dune.

Why not ask the reason for me spoiling my paper? FWIW I am not going to tell you now anyway. No disrespect but I know exactly how you feel, you should have heard my own view on NOT voting Labour 4 years ago. Something has changed and I have changed.

I feel that I have seen the way forward for society and it does not involve any politician that walks this mortal soil. It is actually THEM in power who are the problem. My message is in no way aimed at the smaller parties, who I would dearly like to hear speak in my parliament, I like to listen to everyone's arguments. My message is to whoever wins, and that includes any hung parliament. I want nothing more to do with them and I just wanted to let them know in the best way I can in my very humble opinion of course.

So even with the change Lib Dems would still be down on their results from last election.

Which i guess shows most people didn't buy the bull**** they were spouting on tv.

I think we can give the British public some credit. You can bet your life that if this was America then their performance would have caused a big increase in popularity. We saw through them and should be applauded.

Or it goes to show that, much like 1992, you can't trust the exit poll results...

The betting exchanges have Lib Dems on 70+ seats at even money, which would be a more than 10% gain for them.

He may have been a ****head but atleast he made up for it with a personality. Brown has nothing going for him so much so that I actually feel sorry for him.

Sounds about right, somewhere between 70 and 80 is my guess. At the higher end would be a 30% increase.

I need the tory vote to hold up in the sth, based on polls of lib con marginals theres little swing, good for the tories in the seats they cling to, but thats just looking on the bright side, the lid dem surge in the sth has made the cons really needing to win true red seats that are one term gains at best

Theres no need to feel sorry for brown, he shouldnt be where he is anyway, no f*cker ever voted for him as pm. And dubya would never have been put in charge of even his local bin collections if it hadnt have been for his daddy, no wonder he liked a drink.....

It's close!

I know i shouldn't feel sorry for him because he is a canniving cvnt and with a fake smile and no interest in the public "how are you?" "good too see you" multiplied a million times is his contribution to the campaign and more smiling that david milliband is because he knows he's got the top job next week

They did clarify earlier that this would be a similar swing to the one Thatcher achieved in 1979 (about 5%), but about half what Blair achieved in 1997. The 80 years thing is that it would be the highest quantity of Tory seats for 80 years.

Exit Poll looks pretty spot on now doesn't it?

Abslutely amazingly accurate. Just 2 up on what the Conservatives actually got, Labour got 3 more than predicted and the Lib/Dems two less than predicted. There are still two results yet to be declared apparently, so it could be even closer.

When the exit poll results were shown at 10 pm last night, people were amazed at the Lib/Dem prediction, but it seems that it was actually over optimistic.
