TijuanaTim Posted 24 September, 2008 Posted 24 September, 2008 Ron is up and about and pretty mobile. His operation appears to be a real success, so much so that the leading surgeon we set him up with is really motivated to carry out the second operation as soon as possible, most probably Thanksgiving time/late November. Ron is settling in well in his new location, which is much better and more appropriate than his last place. Him and his wife Chris are in a much more stable and better situation than the recent past health-wise, locale and financially. Big Ron gets around well he is continually recovering mobility, he is very happy and very grateful to everyone's help and encouragement. This is truly good news and I hope it does something for the 'feel-good' factor around us at the moment which could do with a little injection of positivety.
Saint Billy Posted 24 September, 2008 Posted 24 September, 2008 Thanks for the message TT, great news about Ron D. Hope the all round improvement continues and best of luck for the next op. What we could do with someone like you now!
solentstars Posted 24 September, 2008 Posted 24 September, 2008 fantastic news for our greatest centre forward.
sad saints fan Posted 24 September, 2008 Posted 24 September, 2008 ASK ron if he fancies a game he is probably still better than what we have got now
ottery st mary Posted 24 September, 2008 Posted 24 September, 2008 Very pleased to hear of the progress and hope that all leads to a second sucessful op. Glad to hear that Ron and Chris are in better circumstances and that they have you two great guys giving them such great support. Well done to you TT and your better half. Lets hope you all come to the UK in the future and we can organise a few things and maybe get Ron a game.
eelpie Posted 24 September, 2008 Posted 24 September, 2008 Thanks for the update TT. The good news is nothing less than Ron deserves.
Isla Wight Posted 24 September, 2008 Posted 24 September, 2008 Thanks very much for the update TT.....at last some good news! Can't help thinking that the only way SMS will get an extremely large crowd this season is for RL to pay for Ron and Chris to come over and be introduced to the crowd. Be like the old days.

I too am hoping and praying that Wildey will have noted your post and decided he can do something on behalf of the club to bring this about. Let us hope that when recovered from the second op that Ron and his wife Chris are special guests at St Marys.. Xmas would be nice...Lowey could even dress up in the old red suit... Start the ball rolling please..Nice Mr Wilde. TT you and Ron are more than welcome.. Thank you. Edited 25 September, 2008 by ottery st mary
Colinjb Posted 25 September, 2008 Posted 25 September, 2008 Ron has to come over here for a game once this is done. We may have fallen a long way since he played for us, but certainly we can still show him the club is still alive in spirit.

The http://www.giveittoron.co.uk group have done a really good job and deserve lots of credit.
Ziggy Posted 26 September, 2008 Posted 26 September, 2008 Brilliant news for a true legend. I only hope he doesn't follow the Saints results every Saturday . . . . .
The Tango Man Posted 26 September, 2008 Posted 26 September, 2008 fantastic news for our greatest centre forward. Boy could we do with a big dose of Ron Davies now, just think what a difference he would make !!!!!
Saint_clark Posted 27 September, 2008 Posted 27 September, 2008 Cheers Tim, this is fantastic news. Hopefully he'll make a full recovery and be able to come over here to see just how much we love him.
mcjwills Posted 27 September, 2008 Posted 27 September, 2008 Boy could we do with a big dose of Ron Davies now, just think what a difference he would make !!!!! trouble is we would only sell him
Secret Site Agent Posted 27 September, 2008 Posted 27 September, 2008 What great news. I am hoping for his full recovery and seeing him down the road with the rest of us, not know wether to laugh or cry.

St Landrew Posted 27 September, 2008 Posted 27 September, 2008 Good news. Ron is my all time football hero. Note my avatar. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. If fans would like to me PM me their best wishes to Ron, I will type them out and send them along to Ron Davies with all the correspondance I still have extant from the Give It To Ron appeal. Cheers www.giveittoron.co.uk
SarniaSaint Posted 27 September, 2008 Posted 27 September, 2008 Thanks for the update TT, good news about a true Saints legend.
TijuanaTim Posted 27 September, 2008 Author Posted 27 September, 2008 trouble is we would only sell him We didn't last time...and that is why we stayed up so long...
EFM Posted 28 September, 2008 Posted 28 September, 2008 Just imagine the bloke walking round the pitch as SMS! Would bring many a tear to the eye and, I think I'm right, a few thousand more oldies in just to see him again and applaud him to the heavens, not to mention those younger who will know the legend by generations before them and want to see him in person for perhaps a first time. A lovely lovely thought. I hope he can get over here and be treated like a king.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 28 September, 2008 Posted 28 September, 2008 Too true efm, legend is big ron, would be fantastic to see him at sms.
Poshie72 Posted 28 September, 2008 Posted 28 September, 2008 Fantastic news. Many thanks for the update
Wilf Posted 28 September, 2008 Posted 28 September, 2008 Just imagine the bloke walking round the pitch as SMS! Saint Fan CaM Posted 28 September, 2008 Posted 28 September, 2008 Great news to hear Ron is making a good recovery and hope all is well for round two. Got to agree with all others who have expressed a deep wish to see Ron at SMS - I know it will bring a tear the eye for many - it would be a fantastic gesture of goodwill to all the long-suffering fans to be given the opportunity to applaud Ron onto the turf at SMS.
KK the 2nd Posted 28 September, 2008 Posted 28 September, 2008 Good news and well done TT. Always be a hero to me (Ron that is!).
St Landrew Posted 29 September, 2008 Posted 29 September, 2008 OK, well I've had ZERO PMs for passing on your good wishes to Ron Davies, so seeing as I stickied this old thread for that very reason, I'll unsticky it now. I'm not bitter..
ottery st mary Posted 29 September, 2008 Posted 29 September, 2008 sorry to hear this but I am sure many posters are still in shock with Saints winning and all that. I had sent my own papers etc through TT but still wish to be part of any posters response to wish Ron the very best. Like with TT, I would like to thank you for the work you put in on this site and for good causes like Ron. I think the http://www.giveittoron.co.uk is well worth a look for all fellow posters as I would like to see Ron back on his pins and a nostalgic return to Saints. I think the turn out would be heart warming and would lift his spirits no end.

I'm not bitter.. TBH whilst I DO wish him all the best and support in a practical way - I would feel a bit odd passing on personal best wishes to someone Ive never met. Maybe a 'Best wishes' thread where we can all say 'aye' would work.

With that in mind I will guarantee any good wishes I can pass on. Maybe a new thread specially for it...not my call, but whatever - I will assure Ron gets positive regards.
