What was your away game of the season? For me it is a choice of:

Gillingham: Not so much for the game, which was one of the worst, but for the ridiculous amount of alcohol consumed and random messy London-ness.

Leyton Orient: Massive Saints following, good drink with lads well out the way of the ground and more Leicester Square madness after the match.

I must say, I fookin love League 1. :-)

Gills would be up there for the same reasons even though the football was shocking! Also Bristol Rovers for the fantastic football we played and the excitement of finding out the huddersfield score as the game progressed, really felt like we had a chance of play off that night!

Had a great time at Walsall. Just down the road and full of pre-Christmas cheer! And a resounding 3-1 win.

Leeds away was fun too, a true winter wonderland, entertaining game even if we did lose, but it's fair to say we've come on a long way since then.

And Carlisle away, oh god, drove all that way and left before we got the equaliser. As I drove past the ground on the way out I looked across and saw the away end erupt for the goal. Oh man I wanted the ground to swallow me up.

Leyton Orient was pretty darn good. Carlisle was an excellent day out (and long) and it is laughable anyone left early.

But it has to be Hartlepool for me as just such a bizarre and long day and 900 up there.

Posted

Southend and Oldham were pretty good.

Colchester and MK Dons were sh*te.

Didn't get to Charlton, Orient or Gillingham. Maybe next year.

Only went to Huddersfield.:-( Mind you, I was visiting friends locally and there was a food festival in the station square including stands for various breweries new to me!:-)

BEST: Leyton Orient & Brentford. Had Leeds not been so bloody cold then that would sneak in too.

Worst

Colchester

Millwall (that's the one single game for me where our play-off place went down the drain)

Exactly this for me. Colchester was just freezing.

Leyton Orient - good day out in London on the p!ss

Charlton - see above

Brentford - same again

Hartlepool - long journey made worth it with good game and atmosphere

Gillingham - won £168 in the bookies.

Hartlepool. 7 hours on the travel club on the way up and 6.5 hours on the way back on a Tuesday night but with so many Saints fans making the journey it made it a fantastic night. And we won.

Carlisle after Jaidi equalised and the team and fans went absolutey mental in unison.

MK Dons in the JPT SAF first leg. Great, unexpected, turnout by Saints fans.

Worst by a long way was Huddersfield. Completely outplayed from start to finish :-(

Sorry why? We drew 1-1... Yes we took the lead and then gave a crap goal away. Any reason other than that? I can think of a few more important moments, Swindon at home anyone?

Orient was the best by far for me. If we grabbed the winner after being 0-2 down the roof would have come off that stand. Best atmosphere at an away game for years.

Worst - Swindon

Best - Yeovil. Gorgeous day stood on the terraces, lovely drive down there, and a last minute goal that ended a 10 year hoodoo of me not seeing us win an away league game since Dec 99.

Orient was funny, failing to get off the train at Romsey and waking up in Bath Spa wasn't so funny.

And the £150 taxi fare home from Bath Spa and a police stop and search for your troubles.

What a numpty.

Oh, and don't try and make out you fell asleep... you didn't.... you were just too ****ed to walk.

I have been to 2 away games this season (other than Wembley)

Swindon

Wycombe

Not sure i can pick..........

I did these plus Northampton in the Cup. Thank **** I did Orient as well. Must pick better next year, bring it on

Tranmere for me. Flew up and back, contrived to get engaged, go to a double-gig at the MEN Arena, ar5e around in the Trafford Centre for half a day, pitch up at a Chinese in Manchester at gone midnight post-gig and get served, spend a night out in Chester, a day at a retail outlet buying random stuff and hugging a massive Lindor chocolate bunny, and despite the worst refereeing performance ever in the history of football, Saints losing had absolutely zero negative effect on the whole thing.

Wycombe

Not sure i can pick..........

Having been to both, Wycombe was much worse than Swindon for me, no pub, missed kick off, crap seats, rubbish un-performance and generally terrible conditions all round.

Swindon was just the embarrassment of some people racially abusing Mellis with his family in the row behind me and Pardew hanging the dregs of last summer out to dry against a side who turned out to be pretty decent in the end.

PS You're barred from aways !

Can't pick between Yeovil and Exeter for my favourite away.

Gillingham, Orient and Walsall where all amazing as well.

Huddersfield, Swindon, Wycombe, Colchester, Brighton where all crap.

Can't wait for next season's away games, tempted to get riod of my season ticket and just stick to aways and the odd home game.

Did you go to The Merlin @ Swindon? Probably the smallest bar ever!

Agree with everything you say about Wycombe, but at Swindon we played Paterson on the wing. That is like watching 3D midget pron.

P.S- got a new non call job, more aways for me next year.

We were in the same pub pre-match at Swindon, the one on Southampton Street. I have photos on FB with you in the background. Took about an hour to get served.

I don't remember the Paterson thing, I do remember Lancashire screwing up a stepover 40 yards out and accidentally conceding a corner. And I have video of him finding touch when in 10 yards of space.

And people say we haven't come far since...

leyton orient was the best by a long way, then brentford and charlton. bristol rovers was good for result and we found a decent sports pub. Most random must be huddersfield, drinking in their working mans club with a seriously dodgy metal band.

The taxi was £100 actually, StuRumourSaint.

I think they where called Helter Skelter or something ridiculous, never heard such load music in a pub at noon before, was pretty mad.

Orient for the pub crawl

Carlisle for the long political debate on the train home

Gas for the result

Worst - Tranmere. Not a drop of real ale in sight.
