Well, for once i can say that I am in the know on this one, as heard it from Mr Pitmans mouth. I was just sitting on a cross country train just behind him, and his mates including a Saints player (Lallana?) kept phoning him to see what was happening, he said that at the moment it looks like he will join Brizzle City on Sunday evening, but that the skates were also interested in talking to him and had made a decent offer, but he's unsure of whether they have the cash to back it up. Also said that Brizzle had made a good offer but that with add ons it was a very good offer. Shows he made the right choice where Blackpool were concerned if they made him go home on the train. Holloway throwing a strop perhaps!

Out of interest how do you know he was talking to a saints player?

Because he said to whoever it was, 'you're at home tomorrow aren't you, who you playing? Oh Orient, then he asked him how training went.

 

I don't know if he was just showing off to his mates, but he appears to be in demand now, as he also said to one of his mates 'that his phone had been ringing all day and he'd had hundreds of text messages'

 

From what he was saying to the various callers, it sounded as though he was still hoping a better offer would come his way tomorrow or early on Sunday, otherwise he'll be going to Brizzle.

Piece on Sky Transfer Centre now saying Pitman set for Bristol City. Good scoop that SSW! You couldn't go and hang round AP's office to see who we might be signing, could you?!

Think we may be missing an opportunity with Pitman as he is local and I'm sure if we made him a serious offer he would be interested.Hope we are targetting someone even better.

 

I am slightly nervous by our sit back and wait attitude.What happens if better players don't become available or don't want to come here in the next 11 days.AP has already said our bench is not good enough and without these reinforcements bought in I fear for our promotion challenge unless we are extremely lucky with both injuries and loss of form.

 

I hope we will be aggressive in the transfer market next week and try and make things happen for our top targets whoever they are.

 

Lets hope we get some good news soon although I have a sneaking feeling it will be a very nervous transfer deadline day with us trying to land our targets.

The chaps at half-time on solent were saying there's whispers in the press-room that a new player is watching the game today with his agent.

 

Kris Temple & Merrington have both seen him but neither of them recognise him.

 

A youngster from the land of pele was at the game,

 

rumour is that he is definately being signed....

Adam Le Fondre and Tom Craddock, Antonio and Waigo, plus a CM or two

 

at the moment I feel really let down by Cortese and Pardew after all their talk at the end of last season - its time to deliver on all that easy talk now boys!

Definitely a player in box 20 today. I think it is Guilherme Do Prado, judging by the pictures on here. If not, it was someone who looked VERY similar! Don't know anything about him so hard to comment on his ability.

 

On a side note, should also mention that Liebherr's family were in box 22 today. They looked very emotional during the minutes applause and they were all very animated throughout! I hope they saw today as a fitting tribute to Markus, it's just a shame we couldn't get the win for him too.

I was fully against signing Pitman, but I think he is young and was good against us in the cup game. As back up to rickie, I think we would be a decent signing.

 

Kris Temple on Solent yesterday, whilst talking about Pitman's move to Bristol City said he'd asked Pardew his opinion on Pitman, and Pards' response was "Lazy, but he'll get you a goal"

 

(Just in-case anyone wanted to know)

There's a new story on this site that seems to be saying a fee has been agreed but we're waiting on clearance/work permit as he's non-eu.

 

Would think possibly some form of dual-citizenship as can't see him getting a work permit otherwise.

There is in fact the agreement with Southampton for the transfer of the player but, according to the latest, it expects the response from the committee examine the entry of non-EU players.

We don't need a quick striker we need a target man as backup to rickie IMO and also another midfielder.

 

Hopefully they will be sorted soon.

 

Also Pardew needs to go on a course and learn to be more decisive, he seems a fantastic proactive manager who plans and buys well however i worry about his reactiveness and the lack of changes he makes IMO. Same faults as Sven had.

Ive noticed this aswell. He has really impressed me in the transfer market but he always leaves subs too late for them to make an impact. If Pards could change this aspect to his management then I'd be much happier.

1) We need at least 1 winger with some pace and skill to run at defenses and break down defensive teams.

2) We have a severe lack of competition for places in CM. We only really have Schneiderlin and Hammond as players in that area with any quality. Wotton and Pulis are the back ups, need I say more!

3) A Rickie Lambert double is a major priority! If this player could have some pace as well, we would have a great signing!

 

Guilherme do Prado fills number 2 (although I would be happier if Pardew brought in another CM because Wotton and Pulis are beyond sh*te!).

 

Now we need to address points 1 and 3! We need another 6ft plus striker that can offer us what Rickie does (i.e. an outlet from goal kicks, goals and a threat in the air)! The team also has a severe lack of pace, and as a result our counter attacks are pedestrian at best!

 

Some suggestions for points 1 and 3 from this forum seem to be:

 

1) Matt Phillips (Wycombe Wanderers), Michail Antonio (Reading), Anthony Wordsworth (Colchester United)

3) Tom Craddock (Luton Town), Luke Varney (Derby County), Alan Lee (Crystal Palace), Elliot Benyon (Torquay United)

 

I would also like to suggest Anthony Pilkington (Huddersfield Town), Daniel Ward (Bolton) and maybe a sneaky loan bid for Nathan Delfouneso (Aston Villa).

A very valid point IMO! Lee Holmes against Plymouth is an example from this season!

Something along the lines of - ''Punch, Adam and Lambert aren't quite there yet - and we're suffering because of that. They need 3 of 4 games to get to speed, but we may need to bring in someone of a similar level that will push them for their place - and hopefully we'll do that before Saturday''

He did mention about hopefully getting in another player before Saturday in the BBC Guly interview. Sounds like we're making waves in the market now, I suspect Pardew and co. wanted to see how we started the season before making bids for players that we may not need.

Im going for Marcus Bent as Im surprised by our friendly last week.

AP would of been impressed but would Bent drop down to our level?
