The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

Sorry guys im not quite sure why you don't think we will bring any more players in??

clearly we need to and the sheer fact the number 8 and 11 shirts are vacant makes me beleive the players will come in. Pards is obviously still playing his cards close to his chest and not giving anything away.

Personally i could see a young winger like Phillips come in, a centre mid and maybe a striker on loan before the window is up.

I admit i have been dissapointed with our off season. Lack of signings, Cortese cuasing problems with ex players and the press plus the usual slow start.

When will we ever have a season where we sign our players 2 months before the season starts, have a good pre season and win our first 3 games.........

Chris Wood has played 39 times in his professional career (at club and international level), scoring just once. Hmm

Maybe Robert Koren could be swayed to join our central midfield with the lure of being captain? He's available on a free.

Would be the best signing of the summer, I highly doubt it but would be great.

How is Koren still a free agent? It's not like he's been mentioned by many people in the press either !? I know he's been mentioned on this thread quite a few times and I think he would be a ridiculously good signing, but chances are very slim he would want to join L1 team. But saying that, he's currently not playing for anyone or being paid by anyone ? Surely worth an approach ?!

These were AP's comments 2 weeks ago, saying he still wanted a couple more players. Then, I seem to recall him saying he hoped he'd have 1 or 2 more in before the season started but that it'd be close. Now he's being far more coy about transfers and not really discussing them at all. And there are not even any rumours flying around. It makes me concerned that it's less about player availability and more about spending on targets not being sanctioned.

The main thing that confuses me is that after his experiment of seeing how the team would play without Rickie against Gillingham at the start of May, Perdew stated that he needs to find another player like Rickie in case Rickie was injured. I appreciate that Rickie is a top notch striker at this level and it isn't easy to find another player like him, but surely it doesn't take 3 1/2 months to find at least 1 player of similar quality!

I know there might be the issues of wage demands and player availability holding up potential deals, but I can't imagine it takes 3 1/2 months to find this player!

A positive is that we didn't sign Rickie from Bristol Rovers until after the 1st game last season! I really hope Pardew has got at least 1 player in mind, otherwise we could have a big gap in our team that we can't fill with any other player in the current squad!

The fact that we have left the numbers 8 and 11 free suggests to me that we are close to signing a striker and a winger. Here's hoping!

:( over the Koren update.

Re RL - there appears - IMHO - to have been a shift in outlook on this. Agree that previously AP was looking a Lambertesque player to backfill for him. However, over the last few games we have seen Barnard being squeezed into that mould, and I'm of the viewpoint that AP is thinking, either willingly or under sufferance, that Barnard will be Lambert's stand-in. Today's comments about 'we can play and win without RL and Adam' underscore that to me.

But I do agree there could be something in that shirt numbers 8 and 11 are mysteriously still unassigned.

How about this for a scenario. I'm not ITK and this is pure speculation as they say in Manager speak.

Suppose a Premier league club had put in a bid for Ricky/Adam/ Morgan and it is perhaps a little surprising that we have not heard of one.

NC could have said to AP you have a choice

a) we can sell and reinvest in new players

b) we can keep the player to his contract but he will be unhappy and we might have to let him go for nought at the end of it.

c) We can offer to pay the player(s) premiership wages to stay but that means we can't afford any more signings.

AP may have plumped for c)

Plausible?

I believe even more that Cortese is not going to sanction any more signings for Pardew, unless Lambert and Lalanna move on to something better than the third tier of English Football

Incidently, why do most on here think that players are actually falling over themselves to come to a Div One Team ???

Howard bulled us up front when we played derby in the play offs when GB was manager. We should be able to get somebody like him to shadow Rickie. He would be happy to sit on the bench for most games as he is past his best for top league now. Somebody though, who may help to get us into the Championship is all that we need, not all future stars who will get itchy feet if they do not play regularly. He should be cheap and take low wages in the twilight of his career.

Maybe we should be looking at League One and League Two players then - Matt Phillips from Wycombe, Adam Le Fondre from Rotherham, Brett Pitman from Bournemouth for example.

I still think we'd have a chance of signing Matt Oakley to cover Midfield if we tried - I'm sure he'd like to finish his career back at home - he could move back to the house he built then - and he's due a testimonial from us for over 10 years service so we could throw that into the deal as a maker!

I would say that most players would come here if we paid them enough - but they would probably expexct a bit more for dropping down the divisions as compensation - and I think that's the problem - we're not prepared to pay it

4 Morgan Schneiderlin

8 Chris Lines (Bristol Rovers - 800k)

10 Jason Puncheon

21 Lee Holmes

27 Oscar Gobern

28 Callum McNish

All the transfers look and sound reasonable it has to be said - I'd rather get Waigo and le Fondre in upfront though!

Don't read that website!

Craig Dawson is a good player, but we won't be spending 800k on a position that doesn't need strenghtening.

Lines rumour is dead - and his value would not have doubled in 2 months.

Matt Phillips - possible, only likely one on that list.

Frimpong - nope, will play for arsenal and be registered in their 25. Pard's has already ruled this out.

Antonio - maybe, but 500k is still over priced IMO.

Rowan Vine - has agreed/or close to agreeing a severance package from QPR iirc, so he will be available for a nominal fee, or a free transfer.

Ian Thomas Moore will go for a nominal fee, and will join his dad at Rotherham.

other than that, they've got it spot on as usual ;)

Solent have just confirmed that they have heard the names ''Nicky Butt'' and Robert Koren as players we're interested in.

No idea if it's just idle gossip or they are really ITK though.

I took it as just commenting on speculation - Adu got a mention too.

Pards is on in a min - Wonder if we'll get anything new on transfers other than 'no comment'

doubt it! i think he's been told not to speculate on numbers or how imminent transfers are.

Says Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is in because we lack the pace that Antonio gave us - He said that Chamberlain will come under some competition (soon) - Nearest we got to any transfer news!

And a striker

Very much so! We need a player in the same mould as Rickie because Davis is just wasting every one of our goal kicks by kicking it up to the front 2 and the defenders are winning every goal kick because our strikers (with the exception of Lambert) are too small to compete for the ball in the air! We need another striker over 6ft tall!

I have changed it to make it more realistic

I fear that the make 'walkers' have been told to pay a 300 pound fee for Robert to be holding the packet of crisps when he signs, can you confirm this?
