Carlisle are close to signing Manchester United reserve centre back James Chester on loan!

This hopefully means that we might be getting 1 ,or hopefully 2, young players from Premiership clubs in on loan before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month!

How are those two statements connected?

But players under the age of 21 are exempt from the 25 man squads, so it is irrelevant.

Fair enough - but most Prem youngsters aren't going to want to sit about all season in the reserves. If Carlisle can attract James Chester then we could attract bigger and better, which is very promising!

Neither Blackstock or Tyson played in Forest's game against Swindon yesterday.

Ooooo.....

Interesting and concerning in equal measure, especially with Rickie not playing either and Forest "rumoured" to be interested in him.

Think Tyson is definitely off the menu, with Blackpool interested, but the Dexter rumour might have legs.

Garvan having a medical at Palace according to the mail

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1299448/Crystal-Palace-set-complete-225k-signing-Ipswich-midfielder-Owen-Garvan.html

£225?!?!

For a club that is skint must mean someone is offering them money for a player?

Danns maybe?

supposedly signing a new contract at Palace today as well!

Not sure they are skint now. I can't imagine Ambrose signed a new cut-price new contract.

Danns would've joined us last year if he wanted to come here.

Papa Waigo to sign for Southampton on a loan to buy deal from Fiorentina by the end of the week.

You want rumours irrespective of accuracy then Football Rumours is the place! Here's what's on there today.

I heard Skacel has a really good scoring record at Hearts, plus I heard he's excellent at free kicks. I think he could change our season. I'm expecting a 10-15 goal a season midfielder

Correct, and if our wonderful Management (at thet time ) had played him in his true position, he would have done equally well for us

he did want to come here

I think the main stumbling block for this transfer in January was the fact that we left it so late to try and sign Danns (about 4pm on transfer deadline day I recall!).

His wage demands were quite high and Cortese was not willing to negotiate at the time. It would be interesting to see what could happen if we got Danns and Cortese around the negotiating table now!

I thought Wenger and AP hated each other. That would make this unlikely unless they've made-up

People always go on about this. It's a passionate game and managers, like guys falling out with mates at the pub, do fall out and they do make up. Maybe Pardew and Wenger have a running grudge but I doubt it. I don't think it was anything more than a heat of the moment spate between London managers & ARSEne's refusal to shake Pardew's hands cos, like Fergie, he's a spoilt brat, a sore loser and a bad sport at times (like many of the top managers, sulky and not being accustomed to losing!)

Indeed, and even if they don't get on, surely we could get one of the coaches or other staff, even Cortese to sort a deal.

On another note, IIRC Pardew mentioned a phone call with Alex Ferguson in an interview last season and also previously mentioned that whilst AP was out of management, Fergie invited him to come and watch United train for a week, suggesting they are on good terms, maybe even friends? Could perhaps give him a call...

If Fergie and Pardew are mates, I'd want to see Tom Cleverley on loan in a Saints shirt. He'd bang 20 goals in from midfield in League One. He's a realistic shout having been on loan to Watford last year.

Going on loan to Newcastle apparantly!

Wonder if we will get anyone in this week??

Completely unrealistic more like. Excelled beyond belief with a side a level above us, so to progress his career, Fergie will send him to an easier league yet. Don't make me laugh.

I wouldn't be surprised if, towards the end of the transfer window, we've not managed to get any of our first choice striking targets and pick up Izale McLeod on a free.

Left Charlton this summer and it was Pards who signed him there. Has had injury and form problems, but if revitalised, would be a decent enough backup behind Rickie, Barnard and Connolly.

I have always thought that Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre would be a quality signing, although he is more in the Connolly molde than that of Lambert, still, his goal-scoring record for someone still quite young is very impressive. If I remember correctly he was at Stockport and Rochdale before making the switch to the South Yorkshire club.

He's either on the verge or has signed for Brentford. Gary Alexander also pondering a move there.

Looks like they didn't like what they saw, if he couldn't impress at Brentford then I guess we certainly won't be taking a look then!

Rowan vine would do a good job IMO.

Had a few injury problems but seems over them now and free to leave QPR, he would be pretty hungry to find his form too.

Depends who else is out there, realistic signing though.

Le Fondre would be good but he doesn't fit the Lambert mould.

Agree with Vine, QPR say he is surplus at Loftus Road.
