Saint_clark Posted 17 May, 2010 Share Posted 17 May, 2010 From that site - Febian Brandy. Butterfield at RB if we don't get Calderon. Grant McCann must be given a trial at least, fantastic player. Anderson Silva from Barnsley for CM. Volz would be worth it if he didn't have such bad injury problems.

Doctoroncall Posted 18 May, 2010 Share Posted 18 May, 2010 Ha! I so knew that would happen! Was thinking the same about him in the CCC. Penalty aside, thought he was outstanding tonight. Who knows, maybe it's more likley now they've missed out on promotion. Along with Harper, he's another ex-Pardew signing. The Addick fans think Semedo is their best midfielder and are worried their team will now be sold because of their money troubles. There should be some good buys around without having to spend big on transfer fees.

There should be some good buys around without having to spend big on transfer fees. Plus it would really p*ss them off if Pardew came calling and nicked a couple of their better players for reasonable fees. Do it. Just for the comedy value, if nothing else. shurlock Posted 18 May, 2010 Share Posted 18 May, 2010 If the other Surman thread is correct, I would take Chris Iwelumo anyday. Was a beast in the Championship - not only wins everything in the air but also very clever - bit like Nial Quinn in his heyday.

Soares made a name for himself young, then didn't really live up to the hype. Never really made it at Stoke. And i believe he is an attacking midfielder but all in all has not scored too many goals. Harper or Surman would be my choices in the CM role, or even Racon, he seems a tidy little player to me. Unless Jon Paul Mckgovern or Sigurdsson come up. Or even Nicky Bailey ?? Great little CM, keep him away from Pens though Edited 18 May, 2010 by Smirking_Saint

dickyhale Posted 19 May, 2010 Share Posted 19 May, 2010 Sign some players from Norwich, leeds, Swindon & Millwall. They obviously know how to play in L1! How about Simon Cox of WBA ex Swindon as it said we need another striker think he cost them WBA £1.5 million and does not even get alook in and after all Cox was the joint 29-goal top goalscorer in all four English divisions with Bristol Rovers' Rickie Lambert just over a 2 year ago.....
Smirking_Saint Posted 19 May, 2010 Share Posted 19 May, 2010 Cox would be a great signing but TBH unless he is a like for like with Rickie i don't think a striker is a priority (not that i would turn down an approach for Cox) We desperately need a midfielder and a RB. That is IMO our priority. Any thing else is a bonus.

saint_stevo Posted 19 May, 2010 Share Posted 19 May, 2010 (edited) Cox was regularly starting towards the end of last season as well...... No way. 2x RB's, and an attack minded CM for me, with possibly a lump to take the strain off Lambo up top as well. Francis from Southend at RB, maybe that spanish dude from Brighton as well seeing as though he had 'signed' a few weeks ago....Danns/Stock/Harper/Koren for CM and Iwelumo up top would be my choices, if perhaps a tad hopeful Edited 19 May, 2010 by saint_stevo

No chance of getting Cox. Was playing a deeper role behind Bednar towards end of season (and in Centre Mid ahead of Koren on occastion!!), but highly regarded by all Albion fans who thought he should have got more game time especially ahead of Luke Moore!! There should be some good buys around without having to spend big on transfer fees. I think he is there best midfielder an suggested him last summer. I saw him at the Valley against us a couple of seasons ago and he was superb in the holding midfield role. Excelent first touch, nothing flashy, but importantly he covered the ground, got stuck and was very strong for a young lad. Absolutely spot on about not needing to spend big: Antonio, Adomah, Dickson, Dawson and Calderon could all come for next to nothing.
