Brown calls Labour voter a "bigot"

The double standards over ascroft is truely breathtaking. Gordon Brown made Lord Paul a privy councillor and deputy speaker of the Lords, before he was made to stand down due to financial irregularities. He has donated vast amounts to the Labour Party (although not as much as Ashcroft). He is also a non dom (like Ashcroft). The Labour line seems to be, we can make a non dom a Lord and a privvy councillor, we can also accept money from a non dom, but the Torys can't because he donates too much. You either are against the principle, or you're not. You cant accept money from a non dom and then complain about another party doing so.

he bankrolls the present conservative party which is abit different while paying no tax here but it spells out the corruption in both party's to their business friends for favors.

i would like them all slung out of the lords and have a elected 2nd chamber.

"Both Party's" what about the Lib/Dems The majority of the donations during this campaign were from Alpha Healthcare, a company that is owned by a "non-dom", despite Clegg's campaigning against the practice. No double standars there then

I agree about the hypocrisy over non doms. Ashcroft is a paticularly slimy piece of work though. I know from a first hand conversation with a senator in Belize that he threatened to overthrow the government there if they didnt grant him sole rights to set up a new tax free port - not as far fetched as you might think. Belize only has 300,000 people and Ashcroft is worth about two years of national GDP.

sorry i,m a positive person ,it does not scare me and hopefully its the end of the tory and labour love in.:D

I remember the last Lib-Lab pact and all the indecision and dithering. Nothing would get done, nobody could make any plans, no legislation could be passed. Instead of concensus there would be endless meetings and procrastination. We wouldn't get the average of the parties, we would get the lowest common denominator, which is zilch.

There should be abox for 'none of the above. I'm not enamoured by any of them, but some poor sod's got to clean up all this mess and there's only one real candidate for that.

i agree their should be abox of none of the above but it works in most country s and its the will of the party's to make it work or a national coalition like the war years.

The price of that would be proportional representation and I've not seen any system that I like. The transferrable vote thing means that you don't know who you're voting for. The present european elections are meaningless because your vote could go to anybody, and I like to be able to question the person who is going to represent me. Find a good man/woman and let them makethe decisions on your behalf.

well surely they can find one which sorts the britsh system,i cannot see how we can carry on with our failed voting system where you could have the labour party in 3rd place in terms of votes and they still form a government.

That could happen under a hung parliament (shouldn't that be 'hanged'? :)). If it did turn out that way, there would be riots, and I might be at the front of them. ;)
