Fergie Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Will 3 teams from league 1 then get automatic promotion and then an extra place made available in the play-offs?? Is there still hope for us!? SSN reporting this morning that palace will shut down within 3-4 weeks as they cannot afford to stay in business over the summer.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 3 to 4 weeks would be beyond the play off semi final dates and those matches would have already taken place.

More than likely same number of teams (3) will go up, with a similar knock on to the leagues below, I would have thought?
CWD Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 I just really hope they survive, I wouldnt wish non existance on any club
Trader Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Grasping at straws anyone? There's no way the FL will allow us to be promoted - we won't have served our punishment will we? I'm of the opinion that Walton was appointed for the Leeds match to assure we didn't win, and when that didn't work the referee for the Oldham match was under similar instructions. Allegedly, of course.
Fergie Posted 27 April, 2010 Author Posted 27 April, 2010 but then next year i guess 3 teams will get automatic and 4th-7th will get play-offs?? cant have 23 teams in the championship!!
saintjay77 Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 I just really hope they survive, I wouldnt wish non existance on any club How about they fold before the end of the season, 3 automatics go up and we get a play off space, Someone restarts Palace over the summer and they get a place back in league 1? Carlsberg dont do league fixing, but if they did.....

alpine_saint Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 The state of football in this country is really depressing. So many old household names are in danger of going to the wall, clubs with long histories and traditions. Its a real tragey. The tossers at the Pl and big 4 should really feel proud of themselves.
alpine_saint Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Yeah, conspiracies never happen do they ? I mean the ref for the Tranmere match was just having a bad hair day, wasnt he ? I have it on authority that FIFA brief the refs in a pre-tournament conference about which teams they expect to be in the last 4 of the WC...
benjii Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 No, no, you're right. It all points towards a conspiracy. I can't believe I didn't see it sooner.

IF palace win they are still in the CCC ...and it's a CCC problem to get the numbers right, but if Pompey fail to get their act together then they may not retain a place in CCC.... likewise Hull who are about to go bankrupt having been relegated from Prem already. Last I heard ...Cardiff (now in a play-off place for the Prem) also had problems with the Revenue. Interesting ..'aint it ?.

I think if that many teams were to go under all around the same time the FA, Prem and FL would go into melt down. Certainly wouldnt look like the strongest football leagues in the world and wouldnt do them any favours at all.
alpine_saint Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Then there is also the example of how the PL broke their OWN rules to fine West Ham over Tevez rather than deduct points, since it would have mean Sheff Utd stayed up and they went down.

Do you really think the likes of Richards and Scudamore give a flying f**k about any teams outside the top 4-6 ?

saintjay77 Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Do you really think the likes of Richards and Scudamore give a flying f**k about any teams outside the top 4-6 ? fair point but I think if that many teams folded they would have to give a flying f**k about other teams. There worship the top 6 and f**k everyone else approach would be highlighted and they would quickly lose support. I wonder if that would then spark the alternate league that I think has been touted before?
Pedro Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 If Palace stay in business but are relegated to L1 still in administration, will they start life in our division on minus points as well? Also, I thought I read that they are moving out and will have to try and ground share with Millwall/Charlton/Gillingham, so, no money and no ground could equal no club.
the saint in winchester Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Probably only two teams will be relegated from CCC if they go bust They won't go bust, though. David 'Kid' Jensen to the rescue!!!
krissyboy31 Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 They won't go bust, though. David 'Kid' Jensen to the rescue!!! I think any takeover is dependant on the new owners being able to do a deal on Selhurst Park which is owned by a separate company, also in administration.

SSN reporting this morning that palace will shut down within 3-4 weeks as they cannot afford to stay in business over the summer. The easiest solution for the Football League would be to promote the two teams (out of the existing 3rd to 6th place teams) that reach the playoff final I'd have thought....(?)
Bucks Saint Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 I think any takeover is dependant on the new owners being able to do a deal on Selhurst Park which is owned by a separate company, also in administration. I have no inside knowledge at all. But I would guess that a deal is quite likely but is on hold, as any new owner rightly wants to know what league he is in before working out a price and a business plan

Badger Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Grasping at straws anyone? . My thoughts too. But lets look at this a bit closer,if Palace disappear we can get into the play offs, and if the Skates are brought to book over the ineligible sub that did not play in the Cup we could be reinstated back into that as well. Not wishing to cause fixture chaos we should go straight into the final as it was against us that the offence was committed.
krissyboy31 Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Neil Shipperley talking about them on SSN. Now we really do know who ate all the pies!!
buctootim Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 I think any takeover is dependant on the new owners being able to do a deal on Selhurst Park which is owned by a separate company, also in administration. Yep. All depends on whether Lloyds Bank go for maximum price or accept less from fans. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/banksandfinance/7632510/Lloyds-could-sell-Crystal-Palaces-football-ground-to-developers.html
stevegrant Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 It would all depend on the timing of any extinction (which obviously I hope doesn't happen). Once the fixtures are done, they would just go with a 23-team division for a year and use the promotion/relegation at the end of the following season to even the numbers out again (only two teams relegated from the Championship, only three from League One, only one from League Two, etc). If it's before the fixtures are released, that reorganisation would occur immediately, i.e. whoever finishes 21st in League One and 23rd in League Two would not be relegated.

Griffo Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Went to watch the Palace V WBA game last night. Palace look far too good to go down, but it's always a very good away day so I'm hoping they get relegated.

Griffo Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Not sure about that, Westbrom could of had 10 They still looked a great deal better than anyone I've seen in League One this season. Obviously they'll lose players like Danns, Clyne, Ambrose, Scannell etc if they go down.
alpine_saint Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 Really? From who? A source that I trusted. Do you really think any big-bucks global sporting event is totally kosher any more ?

Allegedly, of course. I wouldn't be suprised after having to sit through the two worst refereeing performances at Tranmere and then the Leeds game. I didn't think Oldham was that bad but it was still pretty shocking.
Junction 9 Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 A source that I trusted. Do you really think any big-bucks global sporting event is totally kosher any more ? I would imagine that source to be some bloke in a pub who's sister used to look after Sepp Blatter's Mums dog. As for Saints v Tranmere being a big-bucks global sporting event, you sure? There have been some bad refereeing performances without doubt but I've seen many dubious decisions given our way this season as well as against. To say there is a football league conspiracy against Saints getting promoted is uttter nonsense.

Remember... The league used to have 94 clubs not 92. Then Maidstone and Aldershot went pop. They didn't reinstate the numbers then.

Well stockport didn't, they took their -10 last season didn't help them much though. If Palace do come down and if they're still in admin even without the -10 they're going to struggle. Their best players will be sold to help pay debts or like some of ours will just refuse to play and there will be no money to buy new ones (if a club in admin is even allowed to buy players?)
SaintSparky Posted 27 April, 2010 Posted 27 April, 2010 With regards to the original question. Relegation reprieves are the standard way of dealing with this in the English Football Pyramid; it has happen in most season recently further down the tree and there are plenty of reprieves in the offing during this closed season with a host of teams going pop this season. There is no reason that I am aware of why that would be any different if Palace, the fish or anyone else goes pop before each league constitution is confirmed at the various AGM's over the summer. Last closed season, if we had gone pop this is the way it would have been handled down the pyramid to the level of the reformed club (if that had happened).

Was Anders Frisk Austrian? Can't remember. FWIW, I agree 100 percent with everything Alpine has said on this thread. There have been some refereeing performances that we have been on the wrong end of this season that cannot have been without some intervention.

There have been some refereeing performances that we have been on the wrong end of this season that cannot have been without some intervention. I think.... you may find Frisk was Swedish. (to avoid everyone getting called Svensson or Johansson many Swedes change their family name, and FRISK mean " to be fit, or healthy) " Anyway, he was a bit controversial and made a few " Fan-Angering" (wrong decisions) in his time, but I think ? he retired a few years ago after he refereed a match ...in Italy... and in the crowd riot afterwards he was hit by a bottle or a coin ..or something (memory not clear on the precise details). Being a security-minded Swede he decided to pack it in. Good riddance, I say !
