krissyboy31 Posted 27 April, 2010 Share Posted 27 April, 2010 He is crap on Football Manager 2010. You should have stopped the sentence after the 3rd word, added a full stop and that would have been sufficient to construct a factual statement. buctootim Posted 27 April, 2010 Share Posted 27 April, 2010 (edited) Wasnt it something to do with the Andrew Davies deal? Looking at the finances presume Pulis, Molyneux and Forecast are on =/- £3k per week, so 2 seasons x £150k apiece + signing on fees/agents/pensions etc, say £500k + and only Molyneux has played (4 or 5 times?) for the first team. Great business Rupes!! The only real bit of business we did that season. Davies never played a full league game for Stoke, injured when we sold him for £1.5M and still injured the following season, they still can't get rid of him now. Wages of £10k a week that we had no real hope of getting rid of, until jnr popped his head up. I doubt we could have got far into that season without that deal and I still find it difficult to believe we got rid of him. We got £1.5m for an injured player who has only played two games in two years for his new club plus another 12 loaned out games. Having to pay Pulis Jnr c£80,000pa for two years to do nothing in return is still good business. Edited 27 April, 2010 by buctootim

ulstersaint Posted 27 April, 2010 Share Posted 27 April, 2010 Pulis is like a symbol for the dire state of the club under Lowe second time round; along with the daft double dutch disaster.

loughborough_saint Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 I used to play for the skates in their school of excellence (now academies) whilst Pulis was in charge down there I was about 13/14- Antony was in the same team. I can't remember him at all to be honest (40+ in the squad) but my Dad says that he and all the other dads were outraged that he was even allowed to be there just because his dad was in charge. Says he was completely useless and it was so obviously he was there cause of his dad that it was embarrasing!

Kinda supports my theory that if you get to a certain point in professional football you can ride it for at least 5 years until you get completely found out... Kingsland Red Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Wasnt it something to do with the Andrew Davies deal? Same as Forecast with Bale at Spurs? Looking at the finances presume Pulis, Molyneux and Forecast are on =/- £3k per week, so 2 seasons x £150k apiece + signing on fees/agents/pensions etc, say £500k + and only Molyneux has played (4 or 5 times?) for the first team. Great business Rupes!! The story goes that RL asked the goalie coach to go and look at a keeper in Tottenham reserves. The coach ( can't remember his name, the tubby one with GB) stated that he didn't need to see him as he considered it a part of his job to be aware of any good keepers and their circumstances. He told RL Forecast was crap. Next day the lad turned up at Staplewood having penned a 5 year deal.
Fowllyd Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Pulis is like a symbol for the dire state of the club under Lowe second time round; along with the daft double dutch disaster. And there, I think, is the answer. Pulis was signed not as a player, but as an allegory. And what a great job he's done in that role!
trousers Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Was the Schneiderlin deal ever cleared up? I mean, at the time it was suggested we paid £1.1m, when we were broke. Seems very unlikely. Not forgetting the 'rumour' that we snatched him from under Arsenal's and Pompey's watching gaze...
Matthew Le God Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 Was the Schneiderlin deal ever cleared up? I mean, at the time it was suggested we paid £1.1m, when we were broke. Seems very unlikely. It wasn't anywhere near £1m upfront. Most was in future payments dependent on appearances.
