Scudamore Posted 26 April, 2010 Share Posted 26 April, 2010 appreciate your thoughts on that, I will put my money where my mouth is and say that we will not make an automatic spot next season of course more than happy to be proved wrong! If we didn't have the minus ten we'd be three points off second with two games to go. As such i not only expect us to go up next season i expect us to do it as Champions. It's good being a Saints fan right now it really is.
North Wilts Saint Posted 27 April, 2010 Share Posted 27 April, 2010 You sure you got your figures right? After 10 games we were on -2 points, so we got 72 points in the last 34 games..... Look at it another way, hopefully next season we will be at say 20 points after 10 games (6 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats), we could get more. Therefore we would be 22 points better off than this season. If we then could replicate our form from that point we should be north of 100 points ?
SparkySaint Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 I'm pretty sure we'll be the team everyone else will be looking out for. Building a team worthy of getting promoted from the championship, I think thats quite a big statement and nothing I ever known froma League 1 club
eelpie Posted 28 April, 2010 Share Posted 28 April, 2010 I know we shouldn't mention the L word and keep on moaning about his legacy, the minus 10 points, but he truly did for us with his refusal to take us into administration before that deadline. Without Pards at the helm we might even have been relegated too, with the dire (a few notable exceptions) team we began the season with. The game plan was survival this season and promotion next. We did better. So far. Thank you Marcs, Nicola and Pards.

penchant Posted 4 May, 2010 Share Posted 4 May, 2010 Since 28/12/09 which was the last round of fixtures in 2009 the table would look as shown below. This is taken up to the present day (45 games) It is slightly complicated by the fact that teams have played different numbers of games. P Points Norwich 22 50 Millwall 21 46 Swindon 23 44 Southampton 21 42 Hudders 22 42 Charlton 21 33 Leeds 22 27 Colchester 22 24 One thing that is clear from this is that we cannot assume that it will be a stroll in the park next year since this reflects form since January strengthening. It is complicated further because we had eight of nine game away from home in January/February. If you go back to when our pre-season ended (the end of September) our form is good promotion form. But the point you make is a very good one. We need to be on it from day one with a good squad (the current one strengthened at CB and CM) and with a manager who knows what he's doing... We cannot have our usual dozy start to the season for August and September.
