Ok - I think its fair to say that everyone on here would like to see Morgan in a Saints shirt for several years to come, and i'm no different.

Now, I remember that when we signed him at the start of last season, somehow we managed pluck £1.2 million out of thin air to snap him up - leading to a rumour that in fact, Arsenal paid this money on our behalf, in return for first option on him after 2 years.

Does anyone know what the deal is with this, whether this is true, and whether we'll be able to offer him a new contract? Will he be a Saints player next season?

Morgan has a 4 year contract so why should we offer him a new one, although at the time that he signed I think it was rumoured as 5 years. 4 years with an option perhaps then.He dismissed Arsenal interest as window shopping(in a roundabout way) in a French newspaper recently. Although he did seem to say that as he was 2 years into his contract he could stay or leave (didn't get any other explanation).

I would be surprised beyond belief if Arsenal had anything to do with him. He's good, but not that good.

I think a player like him would certainly fit into Arsenal's team. If he did leave it would certainly be interesting to see how well he got on at a higher level.

It was 1.2m euros not pounds and it was definitely divided up for appearances and such. Doubt Arsenal would be that interested in him tbh. The youngsters they have are much better imo.

a club can't have an interest in another clubs player (except loans and sell on)

alot of people made a big deal of us spending 1.2m at the time, but we didn't

we spent possibly around 500k, with the rest (as people have said) being based on apps, international honours and possibly a large sell on fee for Strasbourg.

he signed a 4 year deal, i can see him seeing that out with us and hopefully longer.

It was a big deal because

a) our squad was crying out for experience last season and we spent our last pennies on a French teenager.

b) even £500k would have easily covered Pearson's wages which we supposedly couldn't afford.

c) we went into admin supposedly over a matter of tens of thousands, not millions. If we hadn't found Markus, that could have been the deal which liquidated SFC.

Neither are Morgan's fault, but that was my beef with this particular deal.

He will be even better next season. Especially if he can learn to time his tackles better.

And now that he knows that if you kick the ball , hard towards the goal you sometimes score
