doughnutman Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 As soon as the whistle goes, grab a pen and a contract and hand it to Antonio and ask him to name his price and then pay it!
alpine_saint Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 I think we should be trying to sign him and Waigo.
Minsk Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 DM on Solent/Saints Player saying he doesn't think Reading will let him go. I thought he was out of contract at the end of the season? Sign him up!!
Badger Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 It won't be a case of us wanting to sign him,but down to IF he is prepared to sign.Probably just ££££ !!
Matthew Le God Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 DM on Solent/Saints Player saying he doesn't think Reading will let him go. I thought he was out of contract at the end of the season? Ignore Merrington he doesn't have a clue.
Crab Lungs Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 Ignore Merrington he doesn't have a clue. I'd say as an ex-professional player, manager and coach with extensive contacts around the area, he might have some idea.
Matthew Le God Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 I'd say as an ex-professional player, manager and coach with extensive contacts around the area, he might have some idea. You only have to listen to him on the radio to realise he doesn't have a clue even about some of the basics of the game. Many professionals in many fields don't have a clue about their chosen profession, that is no guarantee of knowledge. Anyway, Antonio was interviewed a couple of weeks ago to confirm he is out of contract. Thus Merrington is wrong, nothing Reading can do to stop him choosing from joining Saints if he wants.

paulwantsapint Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 Also NC tell AP that he must stay as our manager if he wants to manage a team that are going up the football ladder not downwards ie west ham
marc_saint Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 Antonio is only in contract at Reading until the end of this season according to their website. http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10306~45990,00.html
Huffton Posted 24 April, 2010 Posted 24 April, 2010 You only have to listen to him on the radio to realise he doesn't have a clue even about some of the basics of the game. This is the man who brought through the likes of Shearer, Wallace, some fat lazy bloke from the channel islands..the list goes on. Yet you think he knows nothing about football. I despair at some of the comments on this board at times...

What an amazingly arrogant post! Frankly I would value DM's opinion over yours anytime. I heard the interview and DM was making the point that Reading might try to keep him. Players out of contract can sign for anyone - Saints, Reading or someone else..... This was also confirmed by AP in his interview........
Tamesaint Posted 25 April, 2010 Posted 25 April, 2010 DM also said in his post match report yesterday that our first goal was disputed (???) and that Carlisle's first goal came from a penalty. Maybe he doesn't know quite as much as he used to. I would have thought that for Antonio it is a no brainer. If you were him would you opt to stay at Reading where you were clearly not wanted or would you go to somewhere that wanted you and where you were playing in a successful team ?? I suppose that money culd come into it ....or someone else from a higher division could steam in and scupper a deal. But how likely is that??

John B Posted 25 April, 2010 Posted 25 April, 2010 However, if MA was offered a new contract at Reading and an opportunity to start in the Championship? A reasonable point but we are likely to be in Championship soon with a greater chance of success than Reading
Saint_lambden Posted 25 April, 2010 Posted 25 April, 2010 However, if MA was offered a new contract at Reading and an opportunity to start in the Championship? TBH I don't think he would break into Reading's first 11 yet as they have a right winger in form ATM in Jimmy Kebe. I'm sure by him just listening to the crowd yesterday chanting "Pardew Pardew sign him up!" he would have felt even more at home here. Give him a good contract- say 3/4 year deal and everyone will be happy I would offer Waigo a deal as well but I'm sure his wage demands will be a bit higher than Antonio's and could we guarentee him first-team football?

Whereas people who spend their time t w atting off on fantasy land football management simulators are infallable experts.
