I am puzzled.

What is there to reveal ?

I imagine nothing more than a confirmation of his intention to stay with Saints. It would be absolutely ridiculous, after all the hype and build up of that article, for Rickie to say.. well thanks folks, but I'm off at the earliest opportunity.

Lambert has never played above League One, and would almost certainly like to have the chance. But I'm sure he'll give Saints another season or two, and be promoted within a scenario he knows very well and is comfortable with. He's a big fish in a potentially huge pond.

Parents bought one and i just had a look.

It didn't reveal an awful lot, but he and his partner have just bought a new house in North Baddesley with their 2 year old son.

Usually they would go back to scouse land in the summer, but they want to stay down south and settle.

^Thats about it. basically he has had his most enjoyable season ever here and likes being a saint.

Sounds like he is more than happy to stay. Of course the offers to his agent haven't come rolling in yet. I imagine he will stay with us unless something to good to turn down comes along.

I get the impression that if we had not crossed Bristol Rovers palm with silver he would have been more than happy to have stayed with them. The guy rocks up in a 04 plated car when others in the team arrive in much newer an flasher cars maybe he just enjoys a simple life earning a comfortable amount playing for a good team.................. He really could turn out to be a MLT MkII

From the match programme interview -

" If Saints don't make it, and Lambert isn't writing them off just yet, it won't make any difference to the big CF's plans for the future.

Prolific goalscorers are like gold dust and many will come looking for him during the summer, but Lambert insists: "There's no other club I'd rather be at than Southampton. The ambition here is second to none and if we don't make it to the Championship this year, we'll surely make it next season."

He also said at the end of the interview that rather than going back to Liverpool, he'll spend the summer down here having a good look around the area as he hasn't managed to do that yet.

stop worrying about losing him!

IF we don't make it up next season, that pre-season will be interesting by the sounds of it...

Well no one would blame him for going either he'd be 30-31 and running out of time to play at a higher level so if he went it would be with my thanks and wishing him luck.

I think there will be more on the OS as we announce season ticket details. Lambert staying and looking forward to the rest of his career with saints as the first story, then the season ticket details = feel good factor for our crack at winning the league next season.

Well he will like what he sees down here. I, for one, love living here on the South Coast.

He lives near me in North Baddesley in a fairly modest house too. Nice, but modest compared to some of the Flash Harries we've had here. I like players that are sensible with their money. Down to earth bloke who I'm sure most fans can associate with - which should help maintain his cult status.

Rickie Lambert, Division 1 signing of the season.

Rickie Lambert possibly Saints best signing of the Millenium - Svennson and Niemi were very good but Rickie has been outstanding
