cant argue against Lambert, and then many of the others already mentioned. In addition, im really pleased we have Waigo and antonio - at times they are poor - but they also produce those moments of brilliance which really light up a game. Its great to have so many players that have real attacking skill - best saints team to watch for years.

In fairness to Wotton while he lacks practically any footballing skill he has always given his all for the team everytime he has played. You could say the same for a lot of this years fringe players Perry, Murty, Connolly, Thomas and Mills they've all looked committed when they've been called upon such a difference to lasts years team.

I totally agree with you. Even when he stands and watches the game speed by he does it wholeheartedly.

I went for Harding, even though Lambert would clearly get it.

Rickie has been player of the season but Dan deserves credit for being solid week in week out.

I disagree that people should be voting for Harding just because it seems Lambert would `clearly` get it.

If everyone has that mind set than Lambert will not win the award.

Exactly.

Torn between Harding and Lambert.

Most improved award: Morgan

Young Player of the Season: Adam Lallana

Harding has been most consistent in terms of performance compared to Lambert, but you can't ignore the fact he has scored over 30 goals this season

Hardly a fair comparassion how many left backs get 30 goals a year?;) How many vital last ditch tackles has Dan made compared to Rickie? To be Honest Lambert will win this by a country mile becuase of his goals and all round play up front which is fair enough. However I still think that Harding a player who was basically on the football scrapheap when we picked him up has proved to be excellent for us and well worth player of the season.

Having been to every single home league match this season, I seem to have woken up in some sort of parallel universe wher Dan Harding is a "great" player. Lambert, Hammond, Davis, Schneiderlain, Lallana, Antonio, Fonte, Jaidi, Barnard and Connolly are just ten names off the top of my head who have been better players for us this season. All I read above is Harding, Harding Harding...........zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Am I really alone with this view? Is there really nobody out there who would rate him as not much better than ordinary!!?? :prayer::prayer::prayer::rolleyes::confused:

Yes your alone ;)

This poll is totally based on your own personal view if you don't rate Harding don't vote for him. It's not like this forum is renowned for every body thinking the same thing is it.

I felt he was much better in the first half of the season than the 2nd if that helps. Wembley excluded where i thought he was excellent.

:cool:Thank you so much for pointing out the bleeding obvious. I now understand how an opinion poll works and that it's based on people's personal opinions - some of which might actually vary! I'm now busy trying to get my head round this concept of " not voting for Harding if I don't rate him" - I'll do my best.

It's precisely because this a "forum" not "renowned for everybody thinking the same thing" that I feel able to air my (obviously very different from most other posters) personal views - and that you are of course free to ridicule them. The fact that 99% of you think he's brilliant does not mean I'm necessarily wrong.

Well as you asked the question I figured you needed the help;)

Maybe a fairer poll would be who is the player of the season besides Lambert, now that he's the best player in the league.

Harding does deserve credit, and over the last few seasons he would have won player of the year, but it's a GOOD thing he can be that fantastic and still be soundly beaten to player of the year.

33 goals, 20 assists and some of the best hold up play, vision and passing i've seen from a Saints player for a long long time. Lambert deserves the award.

About Harding being player of the season.

All the players that deserve some credit will get it.

It's my opinion, I doubt you would agree that Wotton or Joe Tessem were our players of the season, yet they still have votes.

Best player perhaps, but certainly not the most sought after.

Lambert is an enigma, scores shedloads but will probably never rise above

League 1 football except by gaining promotion with us. JonJo Shelvey now he's

worth taking a punt on for 3 million because he's scored 7 goals (against 30 for Lambert)

Football used to work on a fairly simple basis, he who scores a lot is the MVP and that's what you need, the others can wait, now it's if he's young enough we might be able to hype him up a bit and fleece some mug team in a couple of years time. Ngog wasn't the best striker available at PSG but Liverpool bought him anyway. Now if they'd bought Hoarau they'd have got a better player for less money. I'm sure they just stick a pin in a list sometimes.

Can't believe anyone thinks Schneiderlin has had a better season than Lallana.

We might miss him more when he doesn't play but that's down to the inadequacy of our replacements. Lallana has played better more consistently.

Both are talented young players who could play at a higher level in all probability , the difference is we can play without Lallana and still be a pretty effective team - you can't really say the same about SFC without Morgan Schneiderlin . You might say it just because Wotton (obviously) or Gillett (possibly) are inadequate but there's more to it than that .

It continues to surprise me how many on here haven't yet noticed just how important and influential player Schneiderlin is rapidly becoming , it remains my view that it's this young Frenchman who really makes us 'tick' as a team and as a result he gets my vote .

It's an easy choice to vote for a prolific and popular striker such as Ricky Lambert as your player of the season and I fully understand the reasons why the majority will go down that route - but sometimes you just have to 'look closer' as they say .

I understand it was that old friend and servant of the club Jacques Prost who was behind Schneiderlin's move here - now there's a man who really knows a thing or two about football and footballers .

It's a shame Connolly had an injury flare-up when he did - remember how well he was playing up front with Lambert before that? If he'd have had a full season I doubt we'd have bought Barnard and I'm sure he'd be challenging Rickie's tally. Fingers crossed he's fit for the next campaign.

Lambert, Barnard, Waigo & Connolly - say it out loud and grown centre-halfs soil themselves!

:D

Wrong about what? That Lambert will win, or that Harding deserves credit?

Harding certainly deserves credit but I am not sure that his contribution can be rated as better than Lallana, Schneiderlin or Davies to name but three. What has been gratifying this year has been the number of people that you actually had to consider if Lambert had not been in the equation.

I have voted for Lambert but I do agree with this statement

Paul Wotton for me, if only for his passing ability............and vision..........

You appear to have overlooked Pulis. I mean he may not have played, at all, but playing is merely an over-rated factor in these decisions.

He brings errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm...

This Poll is like General Election

I would like the oppurtunity to rate say five players

I'm not voting until I've seen a televised debate.

Posted
i missed the whole tessem thing?

did he play for reserves or something??

He was on "trial" here at the start of the season under Wotte and played against Totton and possibly someone else (not sure?)

It is impossible to disregard Lambert, which is unfortunate for Harding. Seldom has a free transfer been so welcome, in my opinion. As for talent Papa Waigo should have had a hatful of votes, sadly he isn't as appreciated as he should be, in spite of his scoring and assist record being second to none, and that includes Lambert.

Posted

Looking pretty resounding so far, and well deserved. We would be nowhere near where we are now without Rickie, his goals, his assists and his creativity. He's been an absolutely vital player for us this season, and long may it continue!

All hail, Sir Rickie of Lambert.

Posted

Rickie of course

Does this mean we get to present him with his award at the forum match?

If so, could the admin ask him to bring his boots (I asked first!)

Posted
Lambert - No brainer, he has single handedly fired us to 7th spot. He must be retained for next season, he's vital to any promotion push.

Enough to make you worry about what would happen if

a) he leaves during the summer

b) gets a long term injury next season
