Legod Third Coming Posted 22 April, 2010 Share Posted 22 April, 2010 Guess you haven't seen West Ham this season, my 5-a-side team would have put up more fight against Liverpool. The only reason they will stay up is because Hull and Burnley are terrible with very poor managers. Guess you didn't see Everton earlier in the season? I think managers have bad spells, even bad seasons but it often pays to stick with a bloke who has clearly got the talent/ability to get the job done, back him and then reap the rewards... Examples that spring to mind who have had really sticky spells: Steve Bruce, Alex McLeish, David Moyes, Big Sam, Dave Jones. I just have this feeling that Zola will sit down with Gold and Sullivan, they will have a heart to heart, they will accept that he is a decent man and potentially a very good manager and with their backing he and the team will do really well next season. Legod Third Coming Posted 22 April, 2010 Share Posted 22 April, 2010 saints winning the league with a pompey relegation would be a good one for next year IMO I think they call it "printing money" Mate, that is a bet we BOTH agree on!! (One proviso, Pompey will need to be in business and in my view that is no better than 8/1...)
Dalek2003 Posted 22 April, 2010 Share Posted 22 April, 2010 Managers going back to spiritual homes ? I thought Glenn Hoddle was unique in doing this ?

I saw Everton loads in the season having Jagielka, Arteta, Yakubu injured at the same time screwed them and they where still putting together some very good results. The difference between Moyes and Zola is that Moyes has had several very good seasons and worked his way up from the bottom. Zola is in his first management job and doing a poor job, it's ridiculous that chairman give massive jobs to ex-players based on the name. The only way I can see Zola staying at West Ham is if they just can't afford to pay him off.
VectisSaint Posted 22 April, 2010 Share Posted 22 April, 2010 This article refers to a club spokesman,Jordan Sibley... WHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO? http://www.facebook.com/jordansibley I would imagine this may be Jordan. If you google he is actually quoted frequently on the web, never heard of him before though

Early on Zola appeared to be doing a good job - they finished 9th in his first season (one place better than the previous season). The question is whether that was evidence of his ability or just luck, I guess. I agree with you on big name players being appointed managers. It rarely works, apart from in the case of my favourite manager - KK!
St_Tel49 Posted 23 April, 2010 Share Posted 23 April, 2010 About four weeks ago, I predicted that this would happen as Zola is bound to get the boot under their new owners and Pards was the best manager they ever had and is a ****ney throug and through. I think he'll be asked even if they stay up. Still, what does 'old' Charlie know! Double his pay and he's gone! ANd he'll take a few with him... Lallana, Schneiderlin, Hammond and Lambert for sure. Lets face it he's not always seen eye-to-eye with Cortese especially as Pards 'wanted' only cups this season whilst Cortese wanted the CCC! I would brag about your predictions when they actually happen if I were you.
John B Posted 25 April, 2010 Share Posted 25 April, 2010 Seems that Nigel Pearson has a chance at West Ham http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/West-Ham-put-Leicester-boss-Nigel-Pearson-top-of-shortlist-to-replace-Gianfranco-Zola-Exclusive-article404015.html
