TBH though I agree with you players will go if something better comes along. Nothing we can do about it, unless our chairman wants to play hardball with a player ie "play for us or wait out the rest of your contract on the bench" but in reality we'll take the money and buy someone else.

Fonte was always class. Lambert I'm not sure about - he says he has under Wilkins et al, but who knows. Why?

Fonte is a fool if he expected promotion. We were miles off the play offs when he came. Surely anyone coming into the club would have seen the play offs as a bonus.

I would think Lambert, Fonte and Puncheon are some of the most likely to still be here next season

I think the likes of Lambert, Fonte and Puncheon will all be here at the start of next season.

 

They would have joined knowing full well that promotion this season was a big ask, and to be prepared that if we fell short of our target, another season in League One would beckon.

 

Still, if we are unsuccessful in our bid to gain promotion next term, then it will be a different scenario altogether, and I would be surprised to see Pards at the helm if we missed out again.
