Graffito Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 They have a big chip on their shoulder, but when you remind them of the loanees we have helped them out with over the years and the fact I believe that we allowed them more time for a payment from them to us for Neil Moss at the time which helped keep them in business they shut up Tbf the loan system is intended to benefit the parent club as well. Matthew Le God Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 Combine the banner with pro Bournemouth chants and screw with their minds. "Stand up if you love Bournemouth" "We love you Bournemouth we do, oh Bournemouth we love you" etc etc They may well expect negative songs and won't know what to make of it perhaps. Whitey Grandad Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 Apparently at the cherries games yesterday they were singing "que sarra sarra, whatever will be will be, we're going to st.marys, que sarra sarra". This imo is pathetic. I don't know any one that give a **** about Bournemouth. I was at the Bournemouth game yesterday and heard nothing along those lines. I go to their games now and again and as it happened I was sitting between two Saints regulars who do the same. I wish them well and look out for their results but I think that somehow we are far more important to them than they are to us.
david in sweden Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 Quite a few Saints regulars live in Bournemouth so will be an interesting journey for them when they come up with the Bournemouth & Boscombe Albion 'hordes' for next seasons derby hordes? ..hordes ..? you mean... all five of them ? david in sweden Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 in the likely event of saints not going up, we have the pleasure of playing the cherries next season for some reason they see us as some sort of big rival...I used to always want them to win. Have I missed something here in the football rivalry food chain..? ARE they a big rival to us other than a local one..? ARE we going to have thousands of cherries at SMS trying to kick off..? does anyone else find them a non-entity..? that sounds a bit harsh, though I've always considered B-mouth as a holiday resort and not a football team. As a very small lad, I became aware of B&B as a Hampshire club, and then some bureaucrat moved the county border, and they became part of Darset . I remember Saints playing them in the Old Third Division in the late 50's but not very often since - except perhaps in pre-season kick-abouts. Charlie Wayman Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 It is all very tiresome isn't it but to be fair who amongst us can remember more than 25% of the teams in our own division this year? Go on, try it! I can't that's for sure so not knowing about Bournemouth will not change anonymity of the other 75%. They'll come up here once, so we can all avoid that weekend and - end of story. mikec Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 When did we last play Bournemouth in a competitive match? I have been following Saints since the 60's and I can only vaguely remember perhaps a single League Cup game. It seems strange that we havn't drawn them more often although I suppose they were often out of the cups by the time we entered.

Quickfire Double Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 I've always thought Bournemouth, as a football club, a bit like Pompey's annoying little brother. They have an element with the urge and audacity to want to compete with us, and I don't recall any gratitude for the friendlies we'd often play down there to keep them financially afloat (Cherry-aid era). It'll be a 'kin insult to Saints to spend a season in the same league as that non-entity of a club. I expect no less than for us to 'kin wallop them, twice, and show them who the boss is en route to our promotion and their relegation. Anyone recall the story of their red and white shirt? Some sort of retro job that came out a long while back, and one of their execs apparently took a bit of a going over from some of theirs because they thought it was a Saints shirt? OldNick Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 If we take the bait and bite back they will think thye have a meaning to life. Let them call us scummers, let their fans come on here giving us the big one but look at it like the Isle of Man trying to get a rivalry going with England. They will give it the big one but they get crowds less than 5000 k in a good season. As soon as their manager is taken they will drop back again to having a row with Weymouth fans about who is bigger,

Other than having scored an overhead kick at their ground, the only thing that interests me about Bournemouth is them thinking they're our rivals. It'll do in the meantime if we've got nothing better to do, but I'd rather they massively c'cked up promotion from here as it would be funny... ...was also quite annoyed that some AFCB bellend was giving me aggressive verbals outside The Marlands on the way back to the train station some time circa 2004, but I called his bluff and he backed off. Quickfire Double Posted 20 April, 2010 Share Posted 20 April, 2010 I recall catching some grief off some AFCB fans for carrying a Saints scarf when they were playing some sort of friendly at Swanage years back. I wasn't even in my teens I don't think, wore my Saints scarf because Jimmy Case was playing for AFCB and I wanted him to sign it. He did, and sent me off with a comment along the lines of "at least someone here's got some taste!". That was the highlight, then I got the aforementioned verbals, and Luther Blisset refused to sign an autograph for me and a friend when we snuck into the changing rooms after he'd been subbed! SamKimish Posted 20 April, 2010 Share Posted 20 April, 2010 Like most others, I've always kept an eye out for their results in the same manner in which I do Eastleigh's ... definitely don't see them as rivals. My definition is some armchair fan who supports a team he never goes to see, but supports them becuase that team wins a lot. Down here when you meet a gas fan or carlisle fan you know they're genuie footy fans. When we where playing in the EPL you'd end up chatting to southern numpties in replica man U tops banging on about their team ,who they'd only ever seen on ****ing sky and had never even been to Old Trafford. The EPL may be the best league in the world but league one takes me back to going to the footy with my grandad when I was a nipper I like it.
