forever a red and white Posted 18 April, 2010 Share Posted 18 April, 2010 You mean like at wembley playing Carlisle every week are we? My point is this. James may not have great pace but he certainly has more than Hammomd and Wotton and he is certainly more mobile than the other two. The emphasis of attack from a midfield minus Morgan will come from the wide players. Hammond can't be everywhere at once. Although Wotton will sit, James can run for longer and might even be a bit better at passing. Wotton is a useful player and has great experience, but instead of faffing with the formation etc, saying we should consider James. who before his injury was improving in CM
Arizona Posted 18 April, 2010 Share Posted 18 April, 2010 Just go 5-0-5 The defence can just hoof everything at Lambert and Barnard, Waigo, Antonio and Lallana can all feed off the knock downs and flick ons. Midfields are overrated.

rolosfc Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 Puncheon in the middle of a two doesn't really work IMO, I think lallana would do a much better job in there as he uses the ball more wisely and does work very hard. No point playing Wotton we need to win all our games.
martel Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 Didn't Lambert start his career as a CM player? is James not fit yet? as CM is supposed to be his position we could just play him there. Jamie White could fill in really well, he is an attacking midfilder really anyway, he scored a hat trick in the first half against Salisbury las week as well; I think AP could be very surprised by his abilities, he has also got two good feet as opposed to one; I will probably geta lot of stick for this but I think he would fit in perfectly. hughieslastminutegoal Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 ok...will give you 1000/1 odds on lambert starting in CM next game..If he does, I will donate a fat wedge to charity...if not, you donate I've drawn AP's attention to your odds. He'll be in contact........
Andy_Porter Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 I think the only way Lambert in midfield would work is if we played a 4-4-2 diamond with Lambert at the peak of the diamond with Connolly and Banard upfront. Still can't see it happening but it would be interesting to see it in action.

Pardew tried the diamond formation three times this season and it hasn't worked once, that would be my major reservation, now its not the time to experiment, not with so much at stake

Matthew Le God Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 David Connolly was the player doing the pre match interview today on Saints Player. I think this has only ever been done by someone that has started the game in the past. Sooo... Barnard and Connolly upfront with Lambert in midfield and Delldays eating his face? david in sweden Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 lambert in midfield dear god well we've seen enough free-kicks to know he'd could score from distance if he played in the back four !

Andy_Porter Posted 20 April, 2010 Share Posted 20 April, 2010 Seemed to spend the whole game ****ing around out wide but that may have been because of such poor distribution.
Arizona Posted 22 April, 2010 Share Posted 22 April, 2010 I'd give Gillett or Lallana a try out in the centre for the remaining games. IMO neither James nor Wotton is the answer. Neither is CCC standard and both can leave in the summer as far as I'm concerned.
