Window Cleaner Posted 18 April, 2010 Share Posted 18 April, 2010 Interesting conspiracy theory but one rumour today - Mail on Sunday - is that Coppell will take over at Bristol City. Like you I want AP to remain. Should he leave then I don't want us to again go down the route of allowing a previous name to use us as a means of rehabilitation back into the game (ie Hughes,Curbishley etc). This however is hypothetical so no point proffering candidates. Although AP was a bit of a "previous name" when he agreed to take us on. Think he'd been out of management for about 18 months. Anyway I can't see him going to Celtic and I can't see us sacking him so the point is a bit mute.

Fair point, although a distinction I would make is that he still seemed young and hungry enough to prove a point and succeed.I always felt that with AP his best days might not be behind him. westofshannonsaint Posted 18 April, 2010 Share Posted 18 April, 2010 .....grass is greener elsewhere..........Celtic are a huge club. & that's from someone with a Union Jack avatar!!! Celtic is a massive club, much bigger than Saints (regardless of how much we want it to be otherwise), and it is a big job with (almost) guaranteed silverware/European football. But it is succeed or bust & under at least as much pressure as under Cortese add to that the fact Celtic are in a bit of a mess, the politics involved (someone said Pardew's the "wrong Religion", when did Celtic start signing protestant players?) and that a sizable majority of their fans are unfortunately idiots.... It's a poisoned chalice. I would be very surprised if an offer was made/accepted. I would be more concerned if the rumour was about a mid table prem club (what do Spur's do if 'arry goes down?) sadoldgit Posted 19 April, 2010 Share Posted 19 April, 2010 Any succcessful mamager in the lower leagues is going to attrack attention from above and Pardew has plenty of experience in the Prem as well as a good track record with us. He could walk into any job in the CCC and I expect there are clubs in the Prem who would have him too, irrespective of Celtic. I just hope he stays and sees the job through.
