Barca - Pre Season Friendly?

does anyone have connections at the club who could ask around about away games? If we were to be playing anywhere decent at the end of July / start of August it would be good to have a bit of notice to get on the cheap flights.

I think a Barca friendly would be great, our stadium may not be the Nou Camp but it's still a good showpiece for the game. Perhaps we should just hijack whoever Pompey want to play...

Sent via telepathy to my missus, who typed it up for me on her abacus.

Did the tour of Nou Camp with the family on holiday..... Souvenir :DPicture of Messi, Ronaldinho and ottery pitchside......Two of those mentioned are cardboard cut outs.

Athletico Bilbao?

Is it right that they changed their strip to Red and White stripes after playing saints in the Fairs Cup in 1971 or is that an urban myth?

It's ATHLETIC Bilbao (named in deference to their British founders and as opposed to Atletico Madrid) and they've been wearing red and white stripes since 1910, so the Fairs Cup theory is unlikely...

...though their founders came from Sunderland, Southampton and some blue place down the road, they played from 1898- 1910 in blue, and changed then for reasons which are unknown, but are suggested to be either

a) as a nod to Saints/Sunderland

b) cos they couldn't find any more blue kit at the time,

c) they were the easiest colours to get in Spain due to local mattress makers.

I reckon you're looking at £1M to get Barca to play here pre-season.

only a million? The local teams here in sunny south africa have to pay epl teams like united and city that to pitch up for preseason, and while i'm aware this is south africa i'd imagine barcelona as unquestionably the best team in the world might charge a bit more.

I would imagine Barca's pre season friendlies are already booked up for the next couple of years, with a few dates free for if they win the Champs League and get invited to Dubai or whatever. Their friendlies are normally part of things like the Wembley Cup or Emirates trophy or whatever those touraments that look really good but are normally really dull are called. They do have a friendly at Camp Nou each year gor the Joan Gamper trophy (their version of the Ted Bates trophy), but I am not sure we would be invited.

What annoyed me a bit when we opened SMS though, is that the night before we played Espanyol, Derby hosted Barca in a friendly. Would have been nice to play them instead of the second Barcelona team
