St Landrew Posted 11 April, 2010 Posted 11 April, 2010 Just in case you're thinking, ah footballs - work tomorrow it may have escaped your notice that Late Kick Off, this week is tonight at 12pm going into Monday [after MOTD2], and not tomorrow going into Tuesday, as is usual with the programme.
chrisobee Posted 11 April, 2010 Posted 11 April, 2010 Thanks, I remembered but just realised I need to find Channel 8?? Check, channel 984 !
Mattio Posted 11 April, 2010 Posted 11 April, 2010 I've never watched this show, is this meant to be regional? Torquay is hardly in the South Today catchment area...
chrisobee Posted 11 April, 2010 Posted 11 April, 2010 And they start with errrrr Torquay and Cheltenham
chrisobee Posted 11 April, 2010 Posted 11 April, 2010 I've never watched this show, is this meant to be regional? Torquay is hardly in the South Today catchment area... It shows South and South West, I was confused as well till someone told me!
St Landrew Posted 11 April, 2010 Author Posted 11 April, 2010 It's South and South-West. EDIT: You'll note that Brighton are not included, unless playing one of the region teams, of course.
St Landrew Posted 11 April, 2010 Author Posted 11 April, 2010 BTW, the stand-in presenter tonight is Roger Johnson. Does anyone know what his particular claim to fame is, regarding football..?

St Landrew Posted 11 April, 2010 Author Posted 11 April, 2010 OK, I can see the motley crew who are indulging in Late Kick Off aren't going to get this one. Roger Johnson scored the last ever goal at The Dell in front of a paying crowd. It was a penalty in the half-time show, during the Saints V Brighton match. Uwe Rosler scored for Saints in the first half. 1-0.

chrisobee Posted 11 April, 2010 Posted 11 April, 2010 On 26 May, the club's fans said goodbye to The Dell by stripping all of its seats, the pitch and one man even walked off with an advertising board at the end of a friendly with Brighton and Hove Albion - making them the first and last club to play Southampton at the stadium. Saints won this game 1-0, with the goal (the last ever at The Dell) being scored by Uwe Rösler.
Saint_clark Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 When the hell are we gonna see Lambert smash the ball in the net at 85 mph???
St Landrew Posted 12 April, 2010 Author Posted 12 April, 2010 When the hell are we gonna see Lambert smash the ball in the net at 85 mph??? Don't know, but I heard that his old mate at Bristol Rovers, Chris Lines, who is currently leading the table of the fastest shooters, with 79mph, reckons he won't beat Lambert.
Saint_clark Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 Don't know, but I heard that his old mate at Bristol Rovers, Chris Lines, who is currently leading the table of the fastest shooters, with 79mph, reckons he won't beat Lambert. Indeed, when they do the whole name thing he said "Chris Lines, 79 mph...never gonna beat Lambo".
Hopkins Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 and one man even walked off with an advertising board at the end of a friendly with Brighton and Hove Albion - That was me! Got stopped by a steward though. "Will that fit in your car?" "No" "Put it back then" "Bummer"
krissyboy31 Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 It's South and South-West. EDIT: You'll note that Brighton are not included, unless playing one of the region teams, of course. Brighton were included. A quote from Gus Poyet about being fed-up at playing well but not winning. Includes all the FL teams covered by the Southampton, Oxford, Bristol and Plymouth BBC studios, from Exeter in the west to Brighton in the east to Cheltenham and Wycombe in the north.

Well Brighton are not meant to be included. They are part of the South-East region. I'm sure normal service will be resumed next week. Never did like Roger Johnson, always screwing things up. EDIT: Just checked. Brighton played Carlisle at the weekend, and they were included, so perhaps Auntie has had a change in policy. Brighton were not included, on their own account, in the first few programmes, but they've slipped in through the back door.. ooerr..! Edited 12 April, 2010 by St Landrew
St Landrew Posted 12 April, 2010 Author Posted 12 April, 2010 Anyway, for those who missed it, watch the programme here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00qcpsh
chrisobee Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 Well they even showed Watford, mind you they were playing Plymouth
chrisobee Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 That was me! Got stopped by a steward though. "Will that fit in your car?" "No" "Put it back then" "Bummer" I somehow guessed it would be one of the motley bunch on here

I think there are several teams that appear on different regions because they are on the cross-over zone. Cheltenham with the Midlands. Wycombe and Brighton with the London and SE etc. BBC South have always covered Brighton as a local team though.
krissyboy31 Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 Well they even showed Watford, mind you they were playing Plymouth Yes, covered by Rachel Brookes who is a Saints fan and big, big Hampshire cricket fan.
chrisobee Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 Yes, covered by Rachel Brookes who is a Saints fan and big, big Hampshire cricket fan. Now how on earth did you know that :smt102
krissyboy31 Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 Now how on earth did you know that :smt102 She used to be a DJ/presenter on Power FM and both her and James Haddock (also a Saints fan) left to join Sky Sports. James is still there and covers everything from golf to the Superbowl.
Appy Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 She used to be a DJ/presenter on Power FM and both her and James Haddock (also a Saints fan) left to join Sky Sports. James is still there and covers everything from golf to the Superbowl. Was James Haddock the old commentator on the saint before Will Cope? Shame they didn't give our playoff hopes more of a mention last night, but on the other hand i don't mind quietly going up the table.

Brighton are a bit borderline. Always thought that about Brighton.
Ponty Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 The daft f**kpuppets changed my region from Southern to London when they swapped days. Bloody gimps.
saintkiptanui Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 BTW, the stand-in presenter tonight is Roger Johnson. Does anyone know what his particular claim to fame is, regarding football..?I clean his windows every six weeks, this is my claim to Roger.
hamster Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 I clean his windows every six weeks, this is my claim to Roger. Hamble-Le-Rice?
Crab Lungs Posted 12 April, 2010 Posted 12 April, 2010 Cheers for that St Landrew though I have to say that whilst this was the first time I've viewed the show, I found it atrocious. Even moreso because a club with no links to the football league or the show whatsoever other than they are being relegated to it was talked about more than almost all of the other regional clubs.. ...but hey, what great fans they have, eh?
