Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 18 April, 2010 Share Posted 18 April, 2010 Soppy I can only speak for myself. I abhor censorship of any sort. I believe that political parties like the BNP should be able to spout their vile diatribe (in the hope that people will see them for what they are) I absolutely believe in Freedom of Speech. I think censorship is dangerous, mainly because no-one can ever forsee what might be censored in the future. I have no problem with people watching Boyle or any other comedian - and laughing if they're comfortable with that. I wouldn't ever advocate that such 'comedians' are banned. All I have EVER said is that, having seen him on TV, I don't find his humour appealing at all and I wouldn't hand over any of my hard-earned to him. I've then tried to explain why I don't think he's funny. If others do, well that's their prerogative. Let's just hope it doesn't bite them in the bum one day. Spot on. Argue with people do not ban them.
Kadeem Hardison Posted 18 April, 2010 Share Posted 18 April, 2010 I'm not racist, but find racist jokes funny! I hate to tell you this, but... you're racist. Can't you just tell it's a London audience. The're all trying to hide their amusement because they're that brainwashed into being politically correct. Mental. Absolutely mental. How big a conspiracy theorist do you have to be to come to the conclusion that people aren't laughing not, rather obviously because they don't find something funny, but that they are brainwashed into not laughing? You are john nada, aren't you?

If they are brainwashed, what are they doing there? In fact, you're not a tool, you're just a f*cking idiot. Everything you write on this board is idiocy. You're the new Stanley. Kingsbridge Saint Posted 24 April, 2010 Share Posted 24 April, 2010 I don't really care about the topic of his material as nothing offends me. I just find him deeply unfunny. All a matter of opinion. But if you think Frankie Boyle is unfunny try coming to Australia and watching their 'comedy'. I promise you that you will find Frankie facking hilarious after that. He is right up there with Cleese, Ben Elton, the Trotter brothers and Blackadder. Lee Mack and the Inbetweeners are also top class. England is blessed with top comics (frankie would love that!!) Wes Tender Posted 24 April, 2010 Share Posted 24 April, 2010 The stand up comedy circuit is a crowded environment with plenty of good comedians. Boyle must have realised early on that he couldn't compete with the many comedians who were bitingly witty with the cerebral humour, so he took a leaf out of the Bernard Manning/Roy Chubby Brown book. With the increase of political correctness, it was easier for him to make a name for himself by pushing at the new restrictive boundaries, gaining notoriety and the attendant publicity than it was to compete with the brighter comics. He has carved out a niche market for himself and to sustain it, he has from time to time to do or say something even more controversial to keep his name in the public eye. As more and more people get to know what they will get at his shows, those who would be offended stay away, but others are more attracted to go, so that the audience is not a cross section of society, but a narrow band of the more bigotted, allowing him to be even more extreme. Eventually, his brand of humour will become dull and boring, in the same way that the F word did once the shock value declined through usage and his audience will dwindle, as people shift back to the clever comedy.
